Hello,

I have an old Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo A7640W laptop I recently started using after my main PC went kaput. I installed Win7 on it and noticed the screen often annoyingly flickers with white horizontal stripes. The graphics chip (SiS M760) was not recognized by Windows and I'm just using a generic VGA driver. There doesn't seem to be an official SiS M760 driver for Windows 7. Does anyone happen to know of an alternative/unofficial driver I could use? I found and tried out some XP and Vista drivers which did not work.

I know it's not a hardware problem because the display is perfectly fine on Puppy Linux.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Ive had a look around and it appears that SIS stopped writing drivers a long while back for the M760, so the likely hood of finding any im afraid are very slim and non! Try downloading and installing the XP driver. Its a log shot but may give some useable workaround.

normally a win8 notebook, but downgraded because win7 is so much better IMO
Thanks for trying to help, but I don't have XP compatibility mode in Home Premium.

The flickering is intermittent and a minor annoyance. I can live with it. :)
