Solved Can I delete this partition?

Hi, I bought this computer a while ago (although I'm not the one who regularly uses it) and there has always been this partition on it which is 256GB big but only contains 400MB worth of files. Please see the linked image and an example of one of the files. When I open the install.exe it comes with a window titled Microsoft visual c++ 2008 redistributable setup.

I'm planning on installing ubuntu and so I want to remove this partition to give me enough space, also it just gets on my OCD having a possibly useless partition sitting there

Please could anyone tell me if they think it is okay for me to remove it?

Also, if you need me to do any other things please ask as I understand just a print screen and a file might not be enough for you!

In screenshot I don't see 400MB of files! Show hidden files as well please, show protected system files as well please http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/394-hidden-files-folders-show-hide.html

After troubleshooting you may revert back the changes.
The files shown in previous screenshot can be deleted without issues.

MSOCache is for ms office. Which version of ms office do you have? Do you have the install CD/DVD?

Starting with Office 2007, the location of the cache became immovable. See these: Description of the Local Install Source feature in 2007 Office programs and Setup architecture overview for the 2007 Office system.

Is D a primary or logical partition? Post screenshot of "disk management" plz

MSOCache is only for repairing component installations or adding components (whether at will or if they were set to be installed "on first use" when originally installing the software). if you don't plan on using these features without the ms office install disc in the near future it is totally safe to delete this folder and all its contents.

Sorry I missed disk management, I've uploaded it now.

Also, it's office (full version, e.g. Includes publisher) 2003, given to me by my work

office 2003: Change the Local Installation Source After the Installation - Office 2003 Resource Kit section "Moving the local installation source to a different drive" that move the MSOCache folder. If I were you I should move it to C drive.

After that you can delete partition D in "disk management"
