Win7 64 bit cant open Jpeg dvd/cd I made w/ Xp Home??

UPDATED:
My Windows 7 64 bit pc will burn CD/DVD but will not play them! If I go to there E: or F: properties with a burned or store bought disc is inserted, it does show that there is info stored on the disc. Yet when I click on open or play all I drag files to get is a screen saying do you want to Burn DISC, Do you want to drag files to this folder and add them to this disc.

I can burn cd/dvd/ on this PC and they will play on any other PC or cd/dvd player. But will not play on this PC???

I just tried a cd/ just jpeg photos on my other Win 7 64bit machine and as soon as popped the disc in the window showed up giving be the choices to open ( open folder, view blah blah blah) so I clicked on open folder and all the folders of jpegs showed right up.

Now if I put the same disc in the machine that I'm having the problem nothing automatically open giving me the choice of what and how to open the disc?

What I do see if I have my computer open and pop on disc is the green line across the top showing it is loading after that nothing happens??

Ok I actually took the jpegs that I was able to open on my other win7 64bit laptop and copy from the CD to a flash card. I put the flash card in my PC that is not opening the cd jpeg files. I 'm able to view the photos on the flash card as well as burn them to a CD using the windows software.

It shows that the info is on the disc but I still can not open it, when I click to open I see nothing??

Anyone have any ideas?????

Next, I actually burned a CD using the windows software on the pc that is not showing the files. I burned it and was able to run it on my working pc. But again when I tried the cd on the non reading one same issue. The drive icon shows that there are files on it but when you right click to open or double click I get nothing!

Driving me nuts HELP

E: will not recognize store bought music or mp3 files either. F: will only recognize music files if I open WMP and then open it through there.

Anyone have any ideas?? Could if be a codec issue?

Not a codec problem, that would be a problem if you could see the files on the disk but couldn't display them.

What do you see in Device Manager regarding your DVD drive? I would try to right-click on it and select Update driver.

Possible silly question. Are the disks you are trying to read all DVDs? If so, try a CD. Maybe your drive is a CDROM drive and not a DVDROM.

Is this what I should be seeing w/ a music cd in the E; driver?

Hi,
I have been into the device manager first thing and drives are showing and drivers are current. Also I tried uninstalling both drives and restarting the pc letting them update that way also all check ok. I have tried all different formats, jpg, gif, wav, mp3, avi etc and nothing works.

But I can burn on either drive and play back on my other pc!

Next did the scf/scan or what ever that test was called and again pc checked out ok w/ no errors. as I mentioned when I put a disc in either drive and right click on the drive I see that there is the info on the disc and how much is stored on it but when I try to play nothing happens.

I'm at a loss, totally!!!!

I just went on to another Win7 64bit pc and looked at Disc Management for my E:
Drive that says "HEALTHY (primary partition)"

If you look at the pix of my sick PC it says Raw! Could that be the issue? Would a burner have to be formatted or somthing??

Is this what I should be seeing w/ a music cd in the E; driver?

So far I have also unplugged both drives and restarted the PC then turned off the pc , reconnected and restarted and that did not help.

Next I ran this MS program:
Fix problems with CD or DVD drives that can?t read or write media

The results are show above.

Again I can burn cd/dvd but it will not play in this PC, I can at least go to properties and that shows that there is data on the CD/dvd.

Also I open up WMP F: drive it will show music on a store bought cd and will play.

Bottom line if I try the cd/dvd that I burned on this PC on any other pc they play fine!

A this point I ordered a new burner and will try that, (it should be here in a few more days)

In the meantime any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Well another update:

I had a spare HD laying around so I popped that in and installed Win7 64bit. Guess what both burners work fine, so at this point I believe its a software issue.

So knowing that could anyone give me some tips on a fix so I do not have to reinstall my OS and all the apps?
