Microsoft’s most current web browser Internet Explorer 11 is now the most popular web-surfing tool out there. According to the latest stats from analyst firm Net Applications, the Internet Explorer 11 has climbed up the order to take the baton from the widespread Internet Explorer 8 to claim the number 1 spot. Let’s see how other browsers did last month.

I was a IE user turned to staunch Firefox user. Firefox , as far as responsiveness, fell between IE and Chrome. But I liked all of the features that came with Firefox.

But now, IE11 performs much better than Firefox, in particular rendering. It is a very noncable difference. Firefox has fallen behind. Not only that, but from release to release, Firefox breaks compatibility of plug-ins.

I just wish IE had some of the features of Firefox, like the ability to add keywords for search engines.

One other area I think IE falls down on is in the area of add-ons. IE gives you no way to determine if an add on is out-of-date and has an update like Firefox does. I still use have to use Firefox to check this (java, flash, etc.).

I think that is because the browsers out there differ from IE in there mission. Internet explorer was always meant as the browser for the masses, nothing really needed set up or messed with-it just loaded. (And imho still crashes alot for no reason)

Firefox and chrome and other forks are meant for the more tech savvy crowd who use addons and are more of a power user type.

At least that is my take. I personally like the fact that Microsoft is starting to prevent almost all addons. Stops horrible toolbars and all that other junk that the average consumer gets. For the average customer, internet explorer works most of the time and is relatively safe.

I also like there new approach at blocking old java addons, active x controls by default. They finally caught up with other browsers. Took them long enough.

IE11 is actually doing quite well with security. (Especially with protected mode on) No where near chrome status, but a recent study showed that IE11 was more resistant to malware and attacks vs firefox.

In short, I think internet explorer is finally at a point where I don't feel like I need to kill it with fire. So that is a start.

That's because apple pays everyone off to look the other way.
Probably true.

Granted they learn from the best. US does it all the time. They also love to sue everyone they can for stupid reasons. If you cannot tell, I hate apple. They treat their users as stupid, (granted sometimes there right) they try to make tech simple just so people think they do not have to learn anything. And when something goes wrong, they tell them buy a new one. And people do it. Drives me crazy. It's like a crazy cult.

eh.....I'll stop now.

I agree, would you think it's strange that the EU doesn't have this requirement for a Mac that has Safari as the default browser.
If one commercial company has to do it, all commercial companies should have to do it. :geek:

That was my only issue with that ruling.
I agree, but they probably look at it like who has a Mac percentage wise in the EU, 3 men and a dog springs to mind.

I suspect that is true.

My position is that if it is illegal for one company to do it, it should be illegal for any company, regardless of its market share.

These stupid ultra-specific rulings are what led to Intel using the same sort of dodgy tactics that MS had used a decade earlier.
Intel should have been "hit" much harder than MS was (because of the earlier ruling against MS' tactics).

Once a ruling has been decided (and appeals thrown out) any subsequent offences committed by anyone else should attract significantly harsher penalties.

Nail on the Head

That's because apple pays everyone off to look the other way.
Probably true.

Granted they learn from the best. US does it all the time. They also love to sue everyone they can for stupid reasons. If you cannot tell, I hate apple. They treat their users as stupid, (granted sometimes there right) they try to make tech simple just so people think they do not have to learn anything. And when something goes wrong, they tell them buy a new one. And people do it. Drives me crazy. It's like a crazy cult.

eh.....I'll stop now.

:focus:
Boy, did you nail it. I don't know many Apple users, but the one's I do seem to think their ownership of an Apple device of any kind makes them a member of a superior species. It is very strange and, yes, cult-like
