Hi, I screwed up and while I was configuring my computer, I accidentally disabled the Central Admin Service. I thought I could just go back to services.msc every time I needed to do something that requires admin capabilities but services.msc itself requires admin privileges... My account is still technically "administrator" on my profile but I can't do anything admin related. Somebody please help!

Well, I tried but it said the only restore point I had was on 12/5/14 for a windows update. I hit show past restore points but no more came up. Even thought I know that wasn't the only windows update I've ever downloaded. Is there any other way to re-enable the admin service?

Do you know how to see if I have sharepoint on my computer? I've already tried typing in "sharepoint" in the start search box.

How exactly did you disable it?

Just type in "services" in your start search bar and it should be labeled exactly that. Don't click on the one called component services though. Then just right click on the one called Central Administration Service and click disable, that's how I did it.

Ok, I was able to open the elevated command prompt using an elevated command prompt shortcut. Now what do I do? When I run services.msc though, it says "This service cannot be started, either because it is disabled, or has no enabled devices associated with it."

So you are able to run elevated command prompt and services.msc.

What general problems do you have?

The only option it gives me is restore to factory condition. That is REALLY not what I want to do. Any other way?
