They do have a removal tool called "mbam-clean.exe", but I'm not sure if you have to use it.

I take it you have a trial version now. You may be able to just register and activate it without uninstalling anything or downloading anything new. Look on the Protection tab and see if there is a "register" or "activate" choice. Presumably it will ask for your credit card if you haven't paid yet.

You will probably need to enter a code number to activate. They may have sent you one already when you got the trial version? I'm not sure how that works as I have never used trials.

Guard that code number. You'll need it to reinstall, pay your fees, etc.

He went into my laptop and said I had over 3000 hackers and I needed my system cleared. Cost $199.99. he also said no refund of the $25 since it is my fault for not cleaning my system every 3 months.
Was told we have hackers and trojans that need to be cleared. I ask why the trial worked and he said its not the same thing as paid premuim.
Can someoen please explain this to us.

If you are letting people into your laptops remotely, you are begging for problems.

You telephoned Malwarebytes? I've frankly never heard of anyone phoning Malwarebytes.

I think you are being scammed for $199.99.

Are you at all sure that you have in fact downloaded and installed a legitimate copy of Malwarebytes?

Looks like a Russian connection.

About as bad news as you can imagine.

Stay away from him and them. They got your phone number somehow. You have to ignore him and proceed with Malwarebytes.

He may have fouled up your PC so badly that you may have difficulty installing Malwarebytes. But you need to try it.

The man said when it gets to 5000 everything shuts down and all our personal info is taken by the hackers and Trojans. I called the credit card company and closed our account a few minutes ago.

Its ITech circle site, my husband just showed me ,its not malwarebytes. What a fool we are.

Because you let a stranger in your computer you need to do some things.

1. Change all passwords for all accounts of any kind using a clean computer.
Make sure anything that includes any thing to do with money like credit cards and banking.

2. Notify all credit card companies, banks and the like that your system has been compromised.

3. Because no one knows except the crook who was in your computer what was done or left behind I would recommend a wipe and Clean Install to make sure every bad thing is gone.

You should also consider notifying your banks or stockbrokers or anything related to personal finances or private confidential information. Do you do online banking, bill paying, stock buying, etc etc?

If you are lucky---they only wanted your 199.99 and are not interested in anything within your PC. But I wouldn't count on that.

I'm guessing the bad guys have your credit card numbers. You probably ought to get in touch with the 3 major credit card reporting agencies: Trans Union, Experian, and I can't remember the third.

I tend to agree with Layback Bear. Even if you can install and run Malwarebytes and it says you are clean, you will never have complete confidence in that.

I'd back up whatever was highly important on the PC (pictures, videos, music, IRS records, recipes, whatever you keep on the thing that is personal), and then reinstall Windows.

You may have to pay someone 50 or 100 to do that. Do that rather than do nothing.

We may be able to get you through it through this forum, but if we can't you should hire someone outright. In your town.

Some may have other options so just hang in there.

You still ought to plan on doing a fresh installation of Windows.

It's done every day by people with no more experience than you. Might take a few hours.

Start with the tutorial that Layback Bear mentioned.

If you want to try it, start a new thread in the installation section of this web site.

If not, hire it done, locally, face to face with a repair shop.

If you do it yourself, it should not cost a dime.

But you need to back up your stuff as your hard drive will be wiped CLEAN, completely.

I'm not confident about clean install. I looked it over and I don't have a disk or software to store things. All we have on here are pictures. And passwords to a couple sites. Wonder if we can just use Cromebook,is that easy to hack too? I've been online for 12 years. Never got into trouble till today.
