Weird issue with wrong fonts displaying on a certain website

I'm having a weird issue with how a certain website is displaying in my browser. The font is all messed up, and I have no idea if it's an issue with my browser (Firefox), or my OS (Windows 7 32bit).

The site is buzzfeed. It displays fine in my other browsers, but in Firefox, one of the fonts is constantly displaying incorrectly - it looks like the wrong font is being used (it's using rockfont for some reason - which is on my system as a requirement for a pinball game I play).

Here's how it looks usually in Firefox:

Fonts_1.jpg

And here's how it looked after I uninstalled the rockfont font:

Fonts_2.jpg

And then just a few minutes later, it looked like this (while rockfont was still uninstalled):

Fonts_3.jpg

Any idea what's going on with my fonts, and why it only happens on this one site, and only in Firefox? I'm using the latest version of Firefox, but this has been happening for months. After I re-installed rockfont, the page then went back to using that as a font, as in the top image.

What happens if you disable add-ons?

I just went into safe mode and it appears the site now displays correctly. So then it's an add-on causing this issue?

EDIT: Hold on - I just restarted Firefox normally with add-ons enabled and now the site is displaying correctly. I don't know what this means.

EDIT: And..it's back to rockfont again after going back to the site again. ?

Try again without safe mode and if they go back to a different font, I would say there is a very good chance its due to add-ons.

What add-ons do you have installed? Introduce them back one at a time and test the website.

It went right back to the rockfont font again when I ran it without safe mode. I have quite a bunch of addons but I use them all regularly. I'll list them out later here - I'm just on my way out right now.

I'll try disabling them one at a time and see what happens.

Okay, it's not an add-on. I ran firefox in safe mode, and after about 2 minutes, buzzfeed switched to rockfont when I refreshed the page.

I noticed this evening it always does this. After each add-on I disabled, the site looked fine for the first couple minutes, even when refreshing the page, but after a couple minutes, the page switched to using rockfont.

So what could be causing this in safe mode?

Could this be due to hardware acceleration ?

Hardware acceleration is disabled in my Firefox, so that isn't the problem unfortunately. When I enable hardware acceleration in Firefox, text becomes almost unreadable. I have no idea why that happens either.

Actually, here's something weird - I tried enabling hardware acceleration, since it's usually off, and the site displays fine with it enabled. But, text in general on most sites looks atrocious. I have no idea why Buzzfeed acts like this for me, but I can't leave hardware acceleration on because text is pretty much unreadable if I do that. If I disable it, the site is broken again.

Any ideas why turning that on fixes Buzzfeed, or why enabling it causes text to look so bad in Firefox?

Nope - no other site that I have encountered has a font issue like this. But I'm wondering what's wrong with my Firefox (or fonts) for this to be happening.

rock - Search - dafont.com

It's probably a setting in the game :/

The font came with a pinball table - I use Virtual Pinball sometimes (VPForums.org - The Virtual Pinball Forums), and each table includes the fonts necessary for the pinball table to display properly. One table at some point came with rockfont, if I'm remembering correctly. Since this issue, I have uninstalled it and downloaded the font from another source and installed it again - the same thing happens.

But - as I've mentioned earlier in this thread - if i uninstall rockfont, then the site just displays another incorrect font instead (as shown in my third screenshot on the first page).

I still can't solve this issue.

Here's a screenshot I took in Firefox just 5 minutes ago. I opened up Firefox, went stright to Buzzfeed, and here's how it looked:

3 minutes later, I refreshed the page, and here's how it looks now:

This makes no sense to me. What is going on with the fonts, and why is this the only site that this happens to?

See if you've got font settings available that let you choose display fonts and override whatever fonts the website wants to display.

Not sure if it's exactly the same options in Firefox as I use Cyberfox.

I also had a similar problem to yours when using Opera. A full removal of Opera followed by a reboot and then a fresh install of Opera fixed it. You might want to do the same for Firefox.

I actually use ccleaner.

I don't want to override the fonts on all sites though. If I override fonts in Firefox, won't it do that for all web pages?

EDIT: Just tried it - it fixes Buzzfeed but now lots of other sites don't look right because of my forced fonts instead of the webpage choosing how it should look. So that's not a great option for me.
