I don't have much money for a PC build so this time I decided to choose an AMD CPU this time.
So this is what I think of getting:

CPU: AMD FX 8320
GPU: GTX 760?
PSU: How many watts I need?
MOBO: not sure
RAM: Kingston DDR3 8GB 1600MHz (2x4), HyperX Fury KIN, HX316C10FK2/8
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1 TB
SSD: none
CASE: not sure
DVD drive: LG 24x (just for drivers)

Jaakow22,

I would look to a quality PSU with a 80+ Silver or higher rating and stay above 500 watts. If on a budget I've had outstanding results from both MSI and ASRock mobo's.

You should wait to choose your RAM until you have chosen a motherboard. You need to select RAM that is compatible with the motherboard.
(I suppose you could choose a motherboard that is compatible with the RAM, but that would be 'different')

Most builders will start by choosing their processor. This establishes the platform the PC will be built upon.
Then start shopping motherboards that are compatible with the processor.

You can narrow your list of choices by brand or price, or you look for boards that include the minimal number of features you need and then narrow down. Then read the reviews. Keep in mind that most negative reviews are people blaming the motherboard for their inability to read the manual.

Once you have chosen a MB you can go to the manufacturer's website for that board and look up the QVL list for memory. This lists all the RAM that has been tested and works with that board. You do not need to get only the models listed (newer versions come out), but you pay attention to the specs - most importantly the RAM voltage and the timings. You can then shop for RAM that meets those specs.

For a case, I have this one:

COOLER MASTER HAF series RC-912-KKN1 Black ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Newegg.com

And I recommend it for a lower budget build. It has ample room and fairly decent cable management. It also has lots of room for putting in a sealed watercooler kit like linnemeyerhere suggests.

For memory, I might stay away from GSkill myself, but only because I've heard horror stories about their tech support. I've had extremely good luck with Mushkin RAM over the years, and the one time I had to use their tech support to replace a pair of sticks, they were first rate. It also comes with a lifetime warranty.

I've head great luck with ASUS MB's. I'm currently using an M5A97 R2.0:

ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS - Newegg.com

I have an FX8350, but it also supports the FX8320 that you're thinking about, though if you're ever planning to Crossfire video cards, you might want to look at the MSI MB that linnemeyerhere pointed out.

Not nearly enough info.

We have no idea at all what you intend to do with this PC.

Email and going to web sites?

Processing video files?

Mathematical computations?

Gaming?

Downloading and processing pictures?

What you should get depends on what you need for your particular job. We have no idea what that is yet.

I doubt if you'd buy a D9 Cat if you were going to plant some petunias. Or buy a 2 quart pot if were cooking a stew for 50 people.

You would split the money up differently for a gaming PC than you would for a general purpose PC or for a mathematical computation PC.

Without knowing that, it's just rank guesswork and you could easily allocate the money improperly.

Nor do we know the slightest thing about your possible vendors, your budget in your currency, or whether you need a monitor or an operating system within the budget.

Definitely. Go for Ram that the motherboard manufacturer has endorsed/tested. Certainly other ram may work but play safe. I've been caught out.

Well said!
We need a starting place so we can give guidance.

If all you want is a gues this is mine.

Just tick on My System Specs in the lower left corner of this post.
That system will work for just about everything or can be updated for extra stuff if need be.

Sorry for a late reply, I will be using the computer for gaming and internet browsing and watching movies.
The problem is that not all parts are available in my country.
So here are the components I was thinking of:
PSU: Corsair VS650 PSU, 650W
MOBO: Asus M5A97 R2.0 (I see it has PCI-E x16 2.0 so does that affect performance if the GPU requires PCI-E 3.0?)
CASE: COOLER MASTER HAF RC-912-KKN1 (this case is really expensive in my country, around 140$, the motherboard is cheaper than a case, is that normal? Know any other case which could be cheaper with good airflow and cool looking.
The build shouldn't be over 1000$

I don't have much money for a PC build so this time I decided to choose an AMD CPU this time.
So this is what I think of getting:

CPU: AMD FX 8320 - Intel Core i5 4670K
GPU: GTX 760? - GTX 970
PSU: How many watts I need? - Answer: 550w will be fine (Cooler Master/Corsair or any other good brand)
MOBO: not sure - Z87 Chipset by ASUS/MSI/GIGABYTE/EVGA etc.
RAM: Kingston DDR3 8GB 1600MHz (2x4), HyperX Fury KIN, HX316C10FK2/8 - good one but try to get the latest modules which are HyperX Fury 1866MHz
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1 TB
SSD: none
CASE: not sure
DVD drive: LG 24x (just for drivers)

Now here you have a lot better specs ;)

I don't have that money, so I wanted an AMD CPU which is way cheaper.

I really couldn’t recommend the ASUS M5A97 R2.0 for the FX-8320 or 8350. It’s a 4+2 VRM (not just an important factor for OCing anymore). Not enough. Those chips will overtax it, in other words there will be wide voltage fluctuation and more potential of failure as a direct result (VRM’s the only thing that keeps your CPU and RAM from receiving the full-wallop from the PSU). Can it be done? Yes. Should it be done? Absolutely not. Not if you actually care about stability, performance and quite frankly longevity. So, I would get a board with no less than 6+2 VRM for those chips. Almost nothing else is as important as that specification on a board when going AMD on a budget (just because the chips fit the socket does NOT mean the newer chips are actually suited to the older boards. I have massive disrespect for manufacturers marketing really old boards for capability on the latest chips. That’s just dirty).

So anyway. Also, factor into your budget for a really good HSF (check this out). The best performing one you can afford and which will fit inside your chosen case (whichever one that is to be – double, nay triple, check that). You are going to need it, especially if you ever get up to 30C ambient temperatures where you are (we get up to 43C here). These chips really do run hot. Sticking to the stock fan is a mistake and a headache in waiting. If you stick with the stock fan, you definitely are in danger of cresting right over the 62C core limit. I don’t recommend it.

And, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with AMD. My 8350 knocks my socks off. If you can or even want to spend a ballpark of $100 more (plus hidden additional costs for “’K’ series to OC and also ‘Z’ series on the MB), feel free. Not necessary IMO. Again, there is absolutely nothing wrong with AMD and I am not just saying that because I have AMD either. I don’t frankly give a fig which one, so long as it meets or exceeds my needs and fits my budget. That’s presently not Intel, as for many. Just had to drop that. Mine handles Wolfenstein: The New Order on Ultra with absolutely no stuttering or significant frame drops, alright? Seamless.

As far as the PSU, that will be determined by your overall hardware draw. You will also need to check the graphics card’s minimum recommendations for the amperage on the 12V rail. Apart from that, you should utilize this to figure out what you need right now, and/or what you will need for any additional future expansions (SSD/HDD’s, Fans, USB devices without power adapters, etc.). Do not forget to adjust for capacitor aging (very important). When in doubt, just throw on a 750. Plenty for one card and typical extras (even SLI/CF, depending).

Lastly, double-checking a build with this is highly recommended. It’s handy indeed.

I would not leave an SSD out of your build. They are relatively low cost now and give you a big overall performance gain for the money. I have been a strong user of seagate barracuda HDDs (no problems) but WD Black appear to have better reliability figures.

I searched a bit on other forums for best PC parts shops in EU with available shipping to my country, so the best shop is alternate.de from Germany.
How about this motherboard Gigabyte GA 970A UD3P?
