Hey all,

So I'm not gonna lie, I have a lot of porn on my computer that I don't want anyone getting into. It's not weird stuff, I'd just rather not have my girlfriend see it when she hops on here. Now if I click the start menu button and the search bar appears, if I type the letter "T" all that pops up is a bunch of Tori Black videos I've got saved. How do I prevent that folder from showing up in the search results?

I did it a while ago but I can't remember how I did it and I've since reinstalled Windows.. I tried removing it from being indexed, rebuilding the index, etc. and they STILL show up. What do?

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Make a new Standard user account for anyone else on the computer,
Make sure no files are in a public library,
Make sure your the only administrator account on the machine,
Standard user accounts can't access files on an admin account
Untested though but the new account shouldn't access searches of another account that would be freaky if it did :/
Cheers.

Hmmm...interesting. On my part I do not think of the search but I restrict the access to the folder itself or I hide the folder. Both of that instances I use a 3rd party program. The firewalls I use like Emsisoft Online Armor, Outpost Firewall Pro and Comodo Firewall can lock certain folders so they cannot be accessed. I use,

I also have created a TrueCrypt Hidden Volume so it's contents and the volume is hidden.

Of couse if your gf is a techy she may still find out that there is a hidden volume or partition or folder. But it's on you if yo will give the password or not. Some read on TrueCrypt hidden volumes here,

TrueCrypt is discontinued but a there are some who use it even so. Even me.

Also there is the old BitLocker in Windows ;)

Goodluck :)

Oh and do back-up files/folders or better yet whole partition. I use ATI Home 2012 to do the job right.

Best way to keep the files private - put them on an external hdd and keep the location private.:p

Occam's Razor, for anyone wondering. I was able to figure it out, and it was much easier. Right-click the taskbar, click Properties. Start Menu tab > Customize button. One of the options in the list will say "Search files and libraries" and you can just select "Do not search". Boom, no more searchable porn. The downfall is that no documents, pictures, videos, etc. will be searchable but I'm pretty organized and I think I could do without it :D

However, they still show up in the "Recent Places" list in the File Explorer. That's not cool :( I'll have to figure that out as well.
