What is Palemoon mysterious background processes and why does waterfox need Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64)? Thank you for the information in advance.

I've been using PaleMoon for over a year now, since I find the original Firefox bloated, but I can attest that it is slow on a cold boot. I develop websites and getting it to load from localhost is taking a long time. However, I am unsure what "background processes" it runs as the article suggests.

I have just tried Waterfox and loading from localhost is a breeze. I might switch to this, now. I'm just going to import my bookmarks and settings.

Just to say that the developer of Waterfox is often very slow in releasing security patched versions. For that reason I stopped using it and swithched to 64bit Cyberfox (no Java) - there are Intel and AMD optimized versions available and it's fully customizable and I've never found a Firefox add on that wouldn't work in Cyberfox.

Cyberfox - yes you can have multiple profiles. It uses it's own profile so it's possible to install it alongside Firefox if you want to check it out. Not sure what you mean about banking. It's pretty much the same as Firefox but there's 32bit or 64bit versions. Obviously 64bit plugins won't work with the 32bit version.

Java - don't need it and haven't had it installed for the last two years.

The problem with Cyberfox is - it has tons of extra options and it can be tricky to customize it to your liking.

That is odd you can't see my system specs. I have most set to registered members here

I couldn't download the installer file directly from their website it was way to slow even for high speed. I used the SourceForge intel link they provided. Right now I prefer a 32 bit browsers until Mozilla developers have more 64 bit add-ons available. However, the new add-one signage requirement may force me to use Palemoon. I read that if Mozilla enforces the add-on requirement it will effect 3rd party builds as well except for Palemoon. Palemoon does it differently. I still would like to know what is Palemoon's mysterious background processes that the article is talking about.

Re: Your profile. my mistake, I can see your specs. Download speed? That version took 3 minutes to download on my machine.
