Hi, I have just reinstalled Windows 7 on a HP laptop and I'm getting random hard freezes (can't do anything, mouse won't move, keyboard doesn't work, no BSOD, just frozen screen) and have to reboot to make it work again.

Does the OS save any data on errors/freezes like this even that there are no BSODs? Where should I look? Do you know what could be the reason or what usually is the reason for the hard freezing?

Thank you!

The OS does have "Event Viewer" which may or may not provide useful information. Visit the following link;

Hi, I have just reinstalled Windows 7 on a HP laptop and I'm getting random hard freezes [...] no BSODs [...]

Thank you!

That sounds like a bad (i.e. incorrect/corrupted/conflicting) driver problem. I'd try booting into safe mode to see if it still happens.... narrowing down the driver might be tough if it freezes as soon as it boots, but I'd suspect the video driver as a place to start. Might just need reinstalling. If it is the vid driver you should be able to reinstall from safe mode if you have the driver present on the HD, as safe mode uses a lesser res built-in video driver.
