Hi. I wonder if someone can tell me how to use 'Internet Download Manager' with filehoster sites that offer a 'premium' and 'free' download option?

I installed IDM and it successfully integrated itself with Firefox. I went to a forum which contains some files I want – there are clickable links which take you to the filehoster site and the 'Premium or Free' option.

The context menu on the clickable link has a 'Download with IDM' option. But all it does is download a small htm file which is of no use. So I carried on as normal by clicking the link and then choosing the free download. Waited 60 seconds. Input the captcha. The 60 second timer began again! And did so every time I entered the captcha. I had to uninstall IDM in order to revert to normal downloading.

Can I actually use IDM for these kinds of downloads? My thanks for any assistance offered.

Hi. Because I read that these download managers can sometimes increase download speeds and can 'resume' after a lost connection. Anyways, I've since found a helppage for IDM which was fairly useful. After following their instructions, I believe that the hoster in question (upstore.net) simply doesn't allow itself to be used with such Managers.

Just install and run internet download manager on your computer, then when you open a webpage, it will automatically detect the file that can be downloaded and pop up the download window for you. I had been used for a while, but later I uninstall it, because it keeps pooping up lots of downloads, it's quite annoying.

I have used Internet Download Manager (paid and registered) for several years and it has much faster downloads than Fire Fox or IE also it has resumed downloads approx 98% of the time with me using Rapidgator, Uploaded, Filefactory (all paid for) and am very happy with it apart from the fact that it stashed 150GB of log files (that's what it said they were) in my AppData folder which has been driving me nuts for a long time wondering where all my C: space was going. but now i know and will keep an eye on it to see exactly what it is stashing there as i deleted it all as my computer was on the verge of stopping and only had a couple of hundred MB left in C: and was not very happy.
Great Program but obviously needs watching what it stashes away.

Sometimes a link to a URL for download has an .html extension. Rapidgator does this. I just only copy the link without the .html extension and that works for me.

Hi,
You really do not need this crapware
More often than not they only hamper operations
Snake oil like reg cleaners....
Cheers.

Just to add removing the html extension not sure but that would take away the descriptions page the download is on the browser would attempt to correct the now broken url.

Sorry but this is just plain wrong. IDM is not crapware. I have used it for a long time and I find it indispensable for managing large download queues and resuming downloads. Try that with your browser!

It's a very solid, useful piece of software. You obviously have no experience with this software but your willing to trash it and spread misinformation about it.
