5770 has same performance as a 4870 but lower power consumption (40 nm) and DX11 support.

i returned my faulty card recently and got store credit and end up going for the same card as i had but 1gb version, i was put of by this 5750 because i thought 5750 are only 128 bit but since returning to the site theyve seem to put the full specs up and says it 256bits
this has a lower gpu clock than the 4870 but i think better memory clock
ive still got the option to change my item
you think its a better card

The 5750 and 5770 have 128-bit memory buses but don't look at that. Look at the memory bandwidth. A card with GDDR5 memory on a 128-bit bus can have more than a card with GDDR3 memory on a 256-bit bus. Having a smaller bus reduces cost and complexity and makes sense for the small die size on the 5700 series cards.

That said, the 4870 has better performance than the 5750, but the 5750 draws less power. The 4870 is about equal to a 5770 in performance.

Dam those look so nice, If only I didn't enjoy CUDA and phsyX. If anyone can answer those cards for sale better then a 9600GS... I think so and AMD / ATI has been tempting considering the one i have right now has a broken fan so it has a vga cooler to cool it down T.T .

What applications are you running that utilize CUDA? AMD has their own GPGPU compute layer called Stream, but CUDA has more marketshare. Eventually everything is going to be moved to OpenCL though to get rid of proprietary technologies.

GPU-accelerated physics is in a disarray right now it seems with Intel pushing Havok, Nvidia pushing Physx, and now AMD pushing Bullet... its hard to tell what will win out in the end... (I'm guessing the one with the most features, support, and openness)

The 5750 is about equal to a 4850 (while consuming 25/50 less watts on idle/load) so yes even that card should do a lot better than a 9600GS.

Just for encoding videos, I found mediacoder with cuda support but i heard ATI has even better support for it (stream) but not sure where to look. Especially since Nvidia's has been showing lack of support. And yes your right all this physics things going on, probably my biased side and having bad luck with my first ati card long ago. But thanks, I am gonna look into ATI/AMD, they show some good promise for a nice amount. :geek:

I hate the smell of friggin corn chip butt breath snacks.
Got my 5770 for $10 less than they are right now. Last week. You could have gotten to Power Color version for as little as $120 with free shipping too. I went with the one that had the fancy cover though, I'm a sucker for presentation.
