Part 2: Microsoft silently preparing your PC for Win 10

I use the Windows 7 built in Chess Game and have yet to over heat my computer.

What I don't like about the Chess Game is when I move up a level Windows 7 cheats and starts beating me to often. It must be a Windows 7 Update causing my problem.

I never really could figure out chess.

I can play chess; it's solitaire I can't fathom.

Looks Microsoft have reloaded and pushing hard the Article ID: 3035583 : Update enables additional capabilities for Windows Update notifications in Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 SP1 revision 2.0 as today's evening and is rated Recommended (517Ko - 601Ko).

For those that haven't install that update and got it hidden, I have received the offer again after it has unhidden the KB Article from my list, with Windows Update.

For those that haven't install that update and got it hidden, I have received the offer again after it has unhidden the KB Article from my list, with Windows Update.

I have 3035583 hidden and the automatic check at this morning's boot up (8:39 AM EST) showed no updates for this system. I ran an update check at 7:00 PM and got KB3054476, which is an update for stream.sys driver based applications in W7 or Win Serv 2008 R2. I did not install it. 3035583 remains hidden on this system.

So today i just find out that windows 10 is gonna be free for nobody, i'm so disappointed too good to be true.

Everyone of us at the end is gonna have to pay for a license....

1) Free upgrade for windows 7 and 8 users but ONLY for the first year via windows update.

What does that mean? that the first day of the second year all will be paying for a license?

Based on that last bullet it appears the Windows 10 update will be provided to properly licensed versions of Windows 7/8.1 through Windows Update instead of the Windows Store.

No, it means that the offer for a free upgrade will be available only for one year. People who take advantage of the offer that first year will get to keep it until the machine dies or they move on to a new one. Also, you have to upgrade from an existing license.

Really? that's nice man. I paid for an expensive Windows 7 license when it was released i'd be very happy to be able to reinstall windows 10 via an ISO whenever i want.

Some articles today were starting to say the upgrade is ONLY via windows update (no ISOS) and just for the first year. I was getting worried.

I hope this really becomes true, cause if not that "upgrade" is gonna end on fail:

Hopefully, Microsoft will also provide properly licensed users of Windows 7/8.1 with a license key that can be used with an ISO of the correct version of Windows 10 for their system instead of having to install the old OS and subsequent updates in order to perform the upgrade to Windows 10 if a clean install is necessary.

Nobody is 100% sure as MS hasn't really said much about anything. But there's no way they wouldn't let you clean install once you took the deal. As LF says you'll be issued with an upgrade licence key.

Well I also have a retail 7 pro licence key. The main thing they've been vague about is the "valid for the life of the device" part.
I'm hoping that upgrading to W10 doesn't turn my retail licence into a non-transferable oem licence. Still waiting to hear about that. I'm in no rush to install W10 anyway. Certainly not within the first few months.
