Ok, I'm an idiot. I looked at the 4 wire connector and thought is was a molex connector. It indeed fits the new ssd. So, I plug in the ssd and I get a black screen saying:
boot from cd
no boot device available
SATA 0 installed
SATA 1 installed
SATA 4 none
sata 5 none

You need both connectors, power and data. Power to the power supply, data to the motherboard.

Is it possible that I didn't clone it correctly causing this? I used Acronis to do it, not the program that came with the ssd. Worked fine using Acronis when I went to a larger ssd in my laptop.

Actually, they do but you have to hunt a bit (quite a bit). However, the point is moot since it doesn't appear to be the OP's problem.

Do you still want pictures? I was mistaken about the connectors. I saw a 4 wire connector and "assumed" it would not fit the ssd. I can, but I'll need to shut down the pc and remove the hdd to photograph it.

Feel free to abuse me. This is why I work on Corvettes and not computers. Lessons learned: remove connectors and verify pin layout and disconnect external hdd (I use this to daily backup the documents folder) before rebooting pc with new ssd installed. Did this and it now boots up and works.

It won't really matter if the PC is stationary but I always fasten it somehow. Even 2 screws on 1 side would be enough.
