Comodos FREE firewall at 1st place on Matousec !

Comodo´s FREE firewall at 1st place on Matousec´s firewalltest, with a 100% score !:

Comodo´s firewall works with W7, but the test was done on Windows XP Service Pack 3, so i don´t know how good it will be on W7.

Word around Comodo's forums is that the 100% score was achieved using both the Firewall and Defense+ (Comodo's HIPS component).

Does Defense+ require setting up or does it run in the background during normal running?

hi !

both the firewall & defence+ can be used in "Training mode".

Comodo suggests that you run it for a few days / 1 week in "Training-mode" so it learns what you "normal" programs are.

then you can switch to fx. "Safe-mode", then every time some "new" program starts you have to answer if it should be allowed or blocked.

That's weird, there was another round up not long ago at all that put Comodo at 3 or 4, behind Online Armor and PCTools.

Comodo released a new updated (better) version...

take a look at Matousec´s archived (older) tests,
fx. kaspersky is a long way down, but now with KIS 2010 they got better.

Hummmm... I don't read it the same way. It looked to me like Comodo requested their product be tested, it was, and it passed.

I'm not clear on how their request to be tested could be interpreted as influencing the results.

Matousec are a respected independent testing facility

The way that this testing scheme is operated is that a basic test, or more precisely suite of tests, are performed on a majority of security suites on a regular schedule.

Any developer can also request Matousec to perform an enhanced test for more thorough testing of their product.

This is the test that Comodo requested and passed so well

I doubt they would have asked for essentially an update to their ranking if they thought it wouldn't come out well, I agree.

I find it kind of funny to read some of the inputs from companies that have been tested and that didn't come out way up in the rankings, but that's just my nasty nature I guess...Schadenfreude anyone?

Care to offer any tips on how to keep Defense + from getting annoying???

I've already been running it in training mode for quite some time.
