How to exclude (forever) certain (but not all) updates from installtn?

Assume I enabled auto-update resp. search manually for updates of my 64bit Win 7 Pro system.

How can I exclude certain updates (e.g. KB3035583 as one example) forever from being installed?

Is there an exclusion list file which is accepted by built-in Windows Update Service?

KBs sometimes get replaced. If you were to add one KB to your list, its replacement would get installed. Some KBs have versions. I'm not sure if hiding version 1 would preclude Windows Update from installing version 2 of that same update.

As far as I know, there is no place for you to make a list of updates to be excluded* in advance of running the automated windows update process..

*Well, technically, ...\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\DataStore.edb seems to be the database where the Windows update process records KBs that you hide. I doubt that it would be wise to edit that database via another process.

Generally, I wouldn't touch anything in the DataStore at all - as you say, the edb file is a database, ant it has a very specific structure, which is not user-readable so far as I know (not that I've tried!) and probably pretty fragile..

MS lost interest in Win7 Bings to concentrate on Win8 (and now Win10)

I use Bing almost exclusively. It's my default search engine but I don't need a tool bar for it.

But.... They keep making it visually harder to skip over the ads so that may change. When I search for 'screw threads', I don't want to see dead-end links to Amazon or Best Price sites hocking the cheapest 'screw threads'. I laugh and wonder how they would package them.
