If I remove and hide KB3068708, I don't get the sfc errors. I think that is interesting, because from what I've read KB3068708 is supposed to fix the sfc issue that originally was associated with the KB3022345 update.

I've noticed that once the KB3022345 update is removed, it doesn't re-present itself for reinstall. Also, when you remove the update K3068708, the action also removes KB3045999, KB3063858, and KB2882822. Then, the system will reinstall only KB3045999, KB3063858, and KB2882822, if you hide KB3068708. If it's not hidden, then the system will reinstall all four updates and the sfc issue returns.

I just removed and hid KB3068708. I don't have the sfc errors now, but I don't know what KB3068708 does. I suspect it has something to do with the Win 10 upgrade.

I'm not going to start a new thread, because this matter is resolved for me with KB3068708 removed and hidden so it doesn't get reinstalled. I think this information would be helpful consolidated into one thread if anyone is researching this issue.

You are probably right not to start a new thread - but you should know that hidden updates can show up again if Microsoft issues another version of the update (reuses the same KB number). There were several versions of KB3022345. Once removed, KB3022345 should no longer show up because that KB number has been replaced. Its replacement might get a new version. The new version might show up for you. Hiding a KB only hides the current version.

You could take the approach that many have: Let these updates go in. Ignore these specific SFC results. Hope that MS sorts this soon. There are corporations that are taking this approach for literally millions of computers.

I contacted the Microsoft Answer Desk and they confirmed the issue that I'm experiencing. They've scheduled a call from a level 2 tech for tomorrow. The Answer Desk tech suggested a repair install to fix the sfc indications, but I'm not really interested in doing a repair install again. If I resort to that level of action, I'd do a clean install. Either way, it's very time consuming.

I've looked at that, but it appears to be a very specific solution to update KB3022345 sfc issues and I had removed that update and it hasn't reappeared, so I'm reluctant to give it a try.

Yeah it won't come back because it was pulled and replaced by KB3068708. This update is supposed to fix the fake corruption but some people have reported it didn't for themselves. Create a System Restore point and give it a try. It is not supposed to do anything to any other corruption that may be anyway.

Thanks for the suggestion. I gave it a try and it didn't fix the "fake" sfc issue for me. Perhaps Microsoft will come up with a hot fix. The Answer Desk rep indicated that it would be resolved with the Win 10 upgrade or a repair install/clean install of Win 7, but I'm having doubts about doing that Win 10 upgrade, because I like Win 7 very much and I don't want to lose some of the Win 7 features that are indicated to be gone in Win 10.
