The manual should tell you what the LEDs are for. It should have the red LED on the top right (for mine) which is finding the ram timings, there should be another for CPU and one for PCIE or graphics card. The red Ram light is pretty normal. If it posts it will send you to BIOS. Just set optimized defaults at first and save and exit. I would stick with the default timings and frequency for the ram. These X99 boards are quite picky about ram. You want to make sure everything is running right before you start tweaking. Is it posting? Are you in USFI mode or legacy? I installed in Legacy mode.

Great. It posted for you. That's a great sound on your first build. I remember my first build. It excited me when I heard the first beep. I didn't think it would post. I would suggest just running everything at defaults for a while until I knew everything is working right. Any questions, fire away.

I would suggest a program to monitor the temps. Even at stock clock it will let you know if the cooler is mounted correctly and doing it's job.

Note:
Don't do much of anything until your heart beat slows down to normal.

Mike, on my board there are 2 lights at the bottom right. One is a Boot Device LED, which should only show if it can't find the boot device. The other is the TPU light (trusted Platform Unit (or something) which only comes on if it is enabled.) I don't enable it. As far as I am aware it is for automatic overclocking.

Mike, you must have formatted the SSD before the install. It will give you no System Reserved that way. It is the way I usually do it. It is in legacy mode.

Okay thanks I don't mind fast boot in win-7 it's harmless
I believe in 8.1 and 10 it gets a little sticky with the fake shut down features or I guess more commonly known as Intel quick fire but I'll save all that for another day

Mike, I have it disabled. On my board it does not show the Asus Logo so it make you have to try 10 times to get into bios. So, I disabled it. It is Windows 10 that does not dismount the drives, not BIOS. I'm pretty sure on that one.

I don't have a 99 board but on my other Asus motherboards I don't use fast boot because at times some thing don't get loaded with Windows 7/64.

Mike, this is your board. All I can tell from it is it may be the Standby Power LED (SB Power), which is good that it's on.

Sounds like this area? The other LED's in that area are listed in your manual. TPU is Turbo Processing Unit.

No, I imagine he has the TPU too. All Asus boards do as far as I know. I just never use them.

If you have no System partition besides C then you didn't install to UEFI so will not have all features of the BIOS.

That's why I posted earlier to remind you how to be sure you got it installed to UEFI to sample the extra BIOS features.

That's why I later asked if you booted the DVD as a UEFI device.

You are thinking of TPM (Trusted Platform Module) which is used with Bitlocker. I don't know what TPU stands for but you are correct that it is for automatic overclocking.
