BSOD error 0x8000000000000002 AMD/ATI Issue?

Hi all,

Started getting daily BSOD's a few weeks back, Seemed to be mostly when i was watching video or streaming video, but did often happen when i'd do something as innocent as switch tabs on chrome etc.
Have had issues with ATI blue screening before but it never happened every day up until now.

Reformatted about a week back, problem has changed but is still there. It'll now freeze or go to black screen within 20 mins of startup then when i restart it'll go straight to BSOD. Restarting a few more times usually gets me back to my desktop and it won't happen again until i start up the next day.

I've attached the zip file of logs, if you need any other info I'll try as best i can to provide.

Uninstall the installed display driver using Display Driver Uninstaller. Then install the CCC 14.4 WHQL only.

Let us know for any further BSOD after doing it.

Thanks for the reply and help. I've done as you've said and will report back if any further BSOD happen.

Secondary question: I have a LCD TV hooked up to my computer. It now has a centimeter black border around it. I used to fix this in Catalyst Control Center but the install you said to use didn't include it.
I'm assuming the CCC was part of the problem but i don't think i can get my LCD back to the proper resolution without it.

There should be display adjustment buttons on the body of the TV I think?

No, only have a power button, channel+/- and volume+/-. Just went through every menu on the TV i could find with the remote but no dice.

Fairly old Philips LCD btw, used to have to adjust the GPU scaling in CCC.

You would have to use CCC to adjust the display size, but for the time being it would be best to test the driver you have installed to see if it puts a stop to the BSODs. I understand that this isn't ideal but this really is a testing phase as you try to pinpoint the problem, if you can be patient and 'suffer' the border temporarily it will help greatly in eliminating drivers as a cause of the 0x116. There are many other possible causes for a 0x116 (which is always a graphics card related STOP) so ruling out drivers is an important first step.

Let us know if you receive any more BSODs and upload new logs if you do and we'll work from there.

Hmm, I had a HD5850 when I first build this PC (5 years ago), and I also have a Philips LED TV (same age). I used to get the black borders and couldn't make it work whatever I tried. When I switched to Nvidia, it started to display fullscreen. I remember reading this was a compatibility issue. Doesn't mean this is still the case though.

Hi Guys,

Been over a week since my last blue screen so i'm calling that a success, many thanks. Did have one instance of my windows theme switching from aero to basic but nothing too major.

I'm thinking if i can find an old stable CCC i could try it out to fixed the scaling issue on my TV?

@gokay sorry only seeing your message now. I can get full screen once i have ATI's software CCC other than that i'm stuck with the borders. Have often thought of switching to Nvidia, this card has been a nightmare for a long time (HD48xx)

Certainly, now the driver has been proven to be the cause you can install different versions to see if any work for you. Follow the method supplied by Arc each time you install a different driver. If you get any more trouble be sure to let us know.
