Thats so strange musiz, because i downloaded the tool from Intels webpage and it says my Corei5 does support virtualization..Although my attempts to successfully run a VM or do XPMode have been failing to no avail...

Ok, I have a newb question. Is there any way to make a non-virtualization processor support virtualization, or do i have to buy a new processor. :-(

I m sad to discover that my Core 2 Duo T5250 does not support virtualization.

It might be a little late to answer, but you can install VMware Player or VirtualBox which will work.

Although, the Core i5 doesn't support vt-d....it does support vt-x...which is what would be needed for XP Mode.

Ahh crud, my E5300 says it will after June 12, i ran Sec and it says i can't do it, but is there a way i can find out the date my CPU was made? maybe i just need to do a BIOS update..

On an Intel Atom Z530 I have: 32-bit, Yes, and locked on (see pics)
clicking on the "locked on" says that it may be the BIOS, another program, or a rootkit.
i Use virtualBox and while I'm not running it currently, I have "enable VT-X" checked. would that cause this?

All AMD processors except Sempron have AMD-V technology. And the ones Intel support is the first page.

You should add the Core i7 975, as engineering samples have been out for several months now and it is on its way to manufacturing....

Also, anyone reading this post - Securable will tell you that your processor is *capable* of the Intel Virtualization extensions, and may even report that they are enabled, but there is a disclaimer - Securable is a 32bit application, and thus cannot accurately verify if the VT Extensions are enabled or not.

My own machine has issues (relating back to the nVidia mobo / system drivers) with retaining the virtualization extensions unless it is booted from a cold boot - the only reliable way I have of ascertaining whether they are enabled is to us a burned CD ROM of a very small .ISO file called VT.ISO - I was linked to it when I was testing VMWare Workstation 6.5 Beta, and it showed me unequivocally if VT extensions were enabled or not.
IJust as a point of reference, this is what I see when I run Securable from inside Vista x64 or Win7 x64:

Hardware Virtualization

This processor does offer advanced hardware support for virtualization. However, while running under a 64-bit version of Windows this program cannot execute its 32-bit kernel code to determine whether Intel's VMX virtual machine extensions are being locked on, locked off, or neither. Since there's a chance that your system's BIOS may be deliberately disabling support for hardware virtualization (some do) you should re-run this program, if possible, with administrative privileges under a 32-bit version of NT, XP, or Vista. That will allow SecurAble to run a bit of kernel-mode code in order to determine exactly what's going on. (Note that you can also poke around in your system's BIOS to see whether you're able to find any references to "hardware virtualization" or "VMX", etc.

If you want to test your system's true support (and this may only be needed for those running Intel CPUs on nVidia-chipset based motherboards, but it is helpful to know either way) take a gander at this file:

It's small, and it is an ISO - you can probably extract the contents (or else use a virtual CD tool and mount it) and make a bootable UFD and save a platter, but I have so many TDK CD-RWs here that I recycled one of my older WinXP Norton Ghost backups....

I have myself totally confused now. I got the same results you show from Securable. So I burned the VT.iso and boot it, with these results:
Reporting VT capability for 4 logical CPUs
CPU 0 : VT is enabled on this core
CPU 1 : VT is enabled on this core
CPU 2 : VT is enabled on this core
CPU 3 : VT is enabled on this core

Copyright stuff etc....

So would I be able to in XP mode on a:

Windows Virtual PC : Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode no longer require HAV processors

This was only as of March 19th.

Pretty cool, but as most have pointed out, Dynamic Binary Translation really isn't worth it on any CPU that doesn't have VT.

You can add the iCore 5-500 Mobile processors Intel® Core they have both VT-x and VT-d

The Intel® Core™ i5-400 Processor Series only have VT-x (so maybe...)

Personally I have the Intel® Core™ i5-560M Processor (3M Cache, 2.66 GHz) in my Sony Vaio VPCF13 but had to activate in the BIOS first.
