I have 32GB of ram in my system and at times my browser will slow, occasionally to the point of crashing.
Without fail when I check, I will show 25GB +/- of ram on standby. When I clear the standby memory, the browser will return to speed. I know that the standby memory should release when needed, but I don't know what else could be causing the problem.

How are you clearing the standby memory?
Normally you can't have too much standby memory. The normal state of available memory is in standby, not free. Free memory is evil and should be as small as possible.
