New hard drive resulted in low performance for games

Hello,

So... My computer's Hard Drive failed a week or two ago so I had my computer repaired. This took a week to complete. Once I got my computer back I created some save points. After this was completed I downloaded what I had before it was repaired (because they had wiped everything). This included things such as Skype,Steam an Antivirus etc. I decided to play a game after everything was sorted (or so I believe) but I noticed that pretty much any game I played lagged a lot more than it would.

If anyone could help, it would be appreciated.

So, did they replace the hard drive? If so, what make and model did they replace it with?

A little more information would really help.

Have you tried running check disk? Press (windows key + r) to open the run window, type in cmd.exe and then wait for that to open. There most likely will be a DEP window popping up asking for administrator access. After that clicking allow/yes, type in chkdsk C: and then reboot the computer.
The computer will post, and then instead of going to the windows loading screen then login, it will run check disk in a black and white DOS like screen, and then take you to the login screen. In check disk, it will tell you if the hard drive has bad sectors and stuff. If it say anything, let us know please
