Using Chrome or Firefox, as I scroll down a newspaper (Very bad onUSA Today), the screen will will jump to the beginning of that page. This occurs on newspaper pages and not other pages.

Does this happen right away? In other words, you load the website - then scroll down within seconds and it jumps to the top of the page. Or is it just the website reloading itself after a few minutes?

it loads fine then as I scroll down and read some articles it jumps, or I could be just scrolling down. Thscreen just jups to the beginning-only on newspapers.

Most news websites automatically refresh/reload. That is why I asks how long between the time that you first loaded the website and the time that you saw the reload.

There is probably a way to stop the reload via some browser add-on/plug-in/extension, but I don't try to stop these reloads - so I don't know what software to add to stop them.

This only started within the last month. I never had this problem for years.

Auto-refresh is the only thing that I think it could be.

Maybe other forum members will have some other thoughts.

Something else I can't prove but I have the same problems on some pages.

I think what is happening is you are scrolling to the bottom of the page faster that the adds can be loaded. When the added does get loaded the page will jump to the top.

I have been reading these newspapers for years and never had a problem. The entire page is there so what you propose is incorrect.

Funkyecat No need to spank me for my suggestion.

From behind our keyboards we have no idea how long you have been doing anything or where you have been doing things. I have other ideas but I will keep them to myself.

I have been reading these newspapers for years and never had a problem. The entire page is there so what you propose is incorrect.
How do you know the entire page has loaded correctly, when you have stated that you are scrolling the page?

Many sites behave like this (it takes stupid amounts of time for the pages to actually finish loading).
Yahoo is one.

There is some other site that Yahoo reposts stories from and it reloads every 30 seconds!
It you can't read the entire article in <30 seconds you are screwed.

Sites regularly modify the scripts on their pages.
For example, they constantly try to bypass script and ad blockers.

One technique they use is to constantly add more scripts, that serve no function other than calling even more scripts (like certain keys in the Registry).
It's ridiculous how many sites I see that have >100 scripts that all need to be running for the site to work properly.

For example, a couple of months ago TechRepublic changed some script and now when I go there my entire browser locks up (randomly) and I receive a message about scripts not responding.

I am familiar with this. But it only occurs on any newspaper sites. I have received this info before. It also occurs many times on USAToday. Unfortunately, that is not the problem.

Thanx
