Start menu says there is updates when its not

Hi,
I seem to have a problem, where my start menu says i have updates pending when i actually dont.

Does anyone know how to fix it? Not a big problem but kinda annoying.

I'm not seeing where your Start Orb Menu is stating you have Windows 7 Updates in your picture. Why would such information be found on the Start Orb menu.

Doesn't the shield next to shutdown mean updates are going to be installed?

Really don't know, I have never seen that shield there before on any system.
What do you get if you tick on the Shield?

You get whatever action is written to the right of the shield. In this case, the computer shuts down.

I had the shield ever since i first got Windows 7, but it would only appear when updated where going to be installed. I have it set to download install automatically.

However i dont have any updates as shown in OP, but it appears every time i turn pc on.

Well I guess the reason I have never seen the shield is because i never do auto updates or auto notification. I update everything manually.

Mitch656 - You're not crazy, the yellow shield on the Shutdown button is supposed to indicate that when you click Shutdown, updates will be installed BEFORE the computer will Shutdown and power off. Can't explain why it's there if yiu have no updates though.

I have a idea. Reboot the computer and let Windows 7 complete the Updates and see if the little shield goes away.

Since you have Windows Updates set to install automatically, then you might have an update that is installing over and over. If it is small enough, you might never see the install progress screen. It might be time to follow the posting instructions for this section and let NoelDP look at the various logs.

So i shutdown last night, it didnt say it installed any updates when i shut down.

Turn on the PC this morning and the shield is back.

SFC doesn't report anything.

If you check updates history, does it show that 1 or more updates failed to install?

A followed a tutorial about resetting the Windows update thing.

I dont know whats it called, but after i reset it said that i never checked for updates before.


Anyway that reset seems to have done the trick for now..
