Netflix is turning its back on Windows Media Center users.

MESSAGE: As of September 15, 2015, Netflix will no longer be available on Windows Media Center. Please visit devices.netflix.com to see the many devices that support Netflix today.

Netflix announced that they will no longer support Windows Media Center (WMC) the day Microsoft launches its latest operating system, Windows 10 (which does not contain Windows Media Center). In a deal that was obviously worked out between the software giant and the number one streaming service; both Netflix and Microsoft have left tens of thousands of users that utalize WMC daily up the creek without a paddle. Netflix representative Kent replied with the reason for Netflix abandonment as: "Alright this message about that Netflix is going to stop working on Windows Media Center is related to the expiration of the Windows Media Center which is actually going to be replaced by Windows DVD"
Windows DVD is in no way a replacement for WMC. In fact, Windows DVD is Microsoft's way of fixing what they broke in windows 8 when they remove DVD playback. It looks like Netflix has been persuaded to assist Microsoft in getting as many people to switch to Windows 10.

Netflix still works on my Roku. Media Center is gone in the latest OS, and looks like other apps are going that route too.

Netflix works perfectly in a browser. I saw the message and said some choice words since I use Netflix with media centre. I have now set up Firefox to view Netflix thru. The difference is of course no remote control. I have dumb TV sets and have computers hooked up to them so whatever goes on I can find a way around it. Sticking with Windows 7. No longer interested in Windows 10 Professional NSA Spy Edition.

I refuse to use Netflix after all the years the $#@! inundated my computer with pop-ups and pop-unders, defeating all my efforts to block them until I resorted to getting a paid-for ad blocker. This latest stunt of theirs merely reinforces my decision to ensure the $#@! get not one red cent from me.

I access the Netflix service using either an Internet Ready TV App or a Roku Netflix App.

No issue for me - never found a use for either media center or media player - other, better, options are available

BTW I do use Netflix on three computers, Two Smart TV's, Two Tablets, and several Phones - without WMC or WMP anywhere to be seen and I cannot remember an intrusive advert from netflix ever - must be a markets thing

After purchasing a Roku 2 (2015 model) a few months ago, I downloaded over 125 free Roku channels. With the free Roku channels alone, I have more than I can watch. And if you want even more variety, you can add a paid subscription with either Netflix (My choice), Amazon, or Hulu. HBO Go, and Showtime Apps, can be added with a cable subscription or can be purchased separately if you do not have cable TV.

Yep as long as isp's don't block Roku or charge the same as if they were using their t.v. packages for using a Roku

I have a feeling one day isp's will wise up and block it unless a customer pays more to use it,

Probably the month after I get a Roku setup isp will give notice of a large data usage and double+ the internet bill

I've never seen any Netflix ads or pop-ups. Sounds like you were infected with adware...

Nope. If I was, Avast, SuperAntiSpyware, MBAM, or Spybot S&D would have picked up on it. I haven't gotten one their *&^%$#@! ads since I got AdBlockPlus.

I as well have never seen or been bothered by an ad on Netflix, and I don't use any AdBlock. I've been using Netflix for years now, on PC, mobile, Roku, Apple TV, etc. It really sounds like something is not how it should be for you.

Are you calling me a liar? Maybe you don't get the ads but for years, they would pester me with pop-ups and, later, sneak in pop-unders until I got Ad Block Plus
