As a matter of fact they did not honor those settings as my registry on 4 machines had Brinks Windows 10 DO NOT UPGRADE settings.

Oh and what a surprise it has been downloaded again after being removed and the settings were changed to download and install. I know it is Halloween but this is no joke and it is NOT FUNNY.

I know you are pretty good at watching for stuff and mean no offense to you, just trying to help. Have you checked and made sure you didn't install one of those other windows 10 related updates? There is a whole list that keeps getting larger and larger?

I haven't experienced where KB3083710 will automatically install yet. (Oops I already have it installed). I don't think KB3083710 is related to windows 10 updates. So

I install pretty much all updates except stuff like these,



I keep waiting for something to download related to the W10 upgrade being forced.

Two of the W7 computers that I support only recently (11 Oct) had those registry settings added.

They...
...are on 24/7
...are not in a domain
...had the $Windows.~BT folder (6GB)
...had the GWX offer in the notification area
...had the "give me recommended updates..." checked
...had (and still have) auto-install updates selected
...did not automatically install W10.

I've had WU set to "check for updates but never download" ever since XP. Mainly because I've always wanted to know what's about to be installed on my PC.
I've also got the Group Policy set to not offer me the 10 upgrade.
I haven't had anything relating to 10 upgrade downloaded on any of my systems. If that does ever happen despite everything I've tried then WU will be switched off and I'll download the security updates manually.

Here is what I don't have installed on my system. I don't have 971033 installed because one of the other earlier windows updates files actually blocks it. I just haven't got around to fixing it. I do actually have windows 7 service pack 1 installed. I never did Windows 7 service pack 1 update either. Yes my system is legit.

That SP1 in your list is just an updated wrapper, you can tell by the size of it.

I will absolutely not download it.I'll stick with Windows 7/8.1 untill support for these two ends.If Microsoft keeps up with this "Windows 10" trend,I'm switching to linux.

I recently had an issue with my sisters laptop. She reserved 10 because it was free and had no idea what she was doing. She thought it would be like 7 but better. Many users are unaware of the real changes. So eventually 10 downloaded and was in the update. If you go to updates it is sitting there telling you to restart to install 10 and will not allow anything else. There are too many occasions where people went to 10 and reverted back to 7 only to have issues. Its not a smooth revert process so I decided to get rid of the update. Well that was a task within its self. Microsoft spent somewhere around 14 hours over a 4 day span trying to prevent 10 from installing. They finally did it.

Here is where I have a big issue. Her laptop had windows 7. If you run the get Windows 10 it said her laptop was compatible for the 10 upgrade. Well the Microsoft rep told me it was not compatible. He said Lenovo did not have the drivers necessary to operate 10. I wonder why there are so many people that have gone from 7 to 10 posting everywhere that something is wrong after installing 10. Anyway here is an article I found that explains what is happening.

Yep quite a few people including myself have older machines
Mine actually came from Vista 6-7 y.o.
At 1 time M$ showed on it system requirement uefi bios was a requirement
It was removed at some point and I haven't noticed it being a requirement again

Funning deal is this same machine I was using for win-10tp testing from the beginning really didn't have any problems using 10tp at all except one lost old hdd got killed in the process

So the drivers deal is pretty weird thing and could be laptop related not sure on that but likely

I did install the final release and still did not have any issues besides the usual like bugs and quirks of win-10
So the upgrade in general sounds more buggy than a clean install would be with existing partitions and possibly existing other connected hdd's/..... to be mostly the problems that a upgrade would have installing.

This may explain why MS is pushing 10 so hard Windows 10's growth is very slow -- Windows 7 and 8.x users reluctant to switch

Perhaps MS is starting to worry about the success of it's new system and are resorting to the we'll get them when they aren't looking method.

I'm starting to notice AMD machines whether it's cpu or gpu AMD are struggling a lot more than pure Intel systems are with 10 :/
Upgrading well that is pure oem manufactures problems which always take time to catch up especially with providing drivers... for now unsupported machines.

I searched "KB3083710" and read a bunch of posts about it on other web sites. I had it installed, but since I've had MS change my update settings in the past, I decided to uninstall it. After rebooting, I checked the Windows Update page for for updates and it came up as an important update. I have hidden it for now, along with the other W10 related updates. So far, I have not been exposed to any W10 update pressure. I'll go if and when I'm ready.

Good to know possibly it is all about the computer manufacture and most of the users still using the factory install than a clean install ?
