You may find this interesting. Found it on the Macrium site. If I understood it cloning in my situation is not possible without going and purchasing a hard drive and connecting it directly to the PCs sata connector. I could do this if absolutely necessary. What size drive would I have to get?

I went ahead and copied the documents to another PC, so I can load them back on the original PC after the recovery.

Great, you got them copied. OK, if you are sure they are on the other PC, then go ahead and use your Recovery Partition and get C: drive working again. == I suggest that after you get your computer booting OK, you put your document on a different partition, not C:. That is the way post guys on here do it. If you ever need to restore your C: drive in the future then the Docs will be on a different Partition and will not be affected like now. That is the way I have mine. I should have thought of the way that you did it when we started. Glad you did. == Let me know when you get things going again. 2. If I do make the C: drive just the OS, and create another partition for data, when data is saved just how does it know to be put on the data partition?

3. Where are all the applications stored?

4. Where are the updates stored?

This is new to me. The owner of the PC will not know anything new in storing the data.

1. It will only put C: and the System Reserved like it was on the day you bought it. The other partitions will not be touched.

2. You put your programs on C: along with Windows. If you have a Word Program, there is a place in Options that is "File Locations" and you would have set what Partition and Folder you wanted them to go. Same with Excel and other programs. There is a Tutorial on here that shows how to set your Library so that it goes the the right place. You don't have to do it now. You can do it later or not at all. Just a suggestion.

3. You would store all of your Programs (applications) on C: with the OS

4. Where are the Updates stored? -- Not sure what you mean. Windows Updates? They would go to C:. Not sure what you mean.

If you would not rather fool with this and put everything on C:, that is OK. If you want to put the Documents on a different partition, I don't mind helping. It is not that hard. == Just to check, you are aware that you need to have the disks for the programs to reinstall on C: after you have ran the Recovery Partition. Just Checking.

Got it. Needed to clarify. I went ahead and resized the C: back to its original size. Did the recovery and all went well. Doing updates as I type this.I will use one of my computers to set up an OS partition and a data partition and change where the data is saved to so I can be familiar with it. I feel better using my own versus someone else computer.

I want to thank you for all your help. I know you spent a lot of time helping me. I learned a lot from you that will help me as I continue to study computers and networks. Will graduate next Fall.

I wish you would check around about the size of your C: partition. It does not need or should be over a TB. Glad I could help.
