What should be happening: I plug in my headset to my controller on my windows 7 x64 PC (wired controller)
and sound comes out of the headset and not the computer

What is happening: No new device shows in device manager underneath sound video and game controllers audio

Problem: not able to use headphones on my controller

How do i solve this problem? When I restart my computer or "scan for new hardware devices" nothing happens and i dont get a headset audio device showing up

And it also doesnt appear in volume control icon > right click > playback devices
so i cant enable it there even when (show hidden/disabled devices) is enabled.

Hi realflow100,

what USB port are you plugging in the Headset in? I've noticed that sometimes depending on if you plug the headset in a USB2 or 3 port matters for some devices.

What is the audio driver you have for the moment, if you haven't got the latest here is the Acer support download page for your PC:
Download Drivers and Manuals | Acer Official Site

Cheers
Boris :)

Already tried different usb ports. tried usb 3.0 and normal usb 2.0
No difference.

And the audio driver should be installed automatically regardless of my integreted on-board audio driver specifically for "USB Headset Audio Device" for the controller (when headphones get plugged into the controller)
but nothing happens on windows 7 x64..... it works properly if i install the "Xbox Gaming Device" driver on windows 10. but that driver is built into windows 10 and doesn't come with windows 7 (and isn't downloadable.)
and I already have realtek high definition audio device drivers installed from the acer website already. so system on-board audio isnt the problem. since I can plug my headphones into the headphone jack and have them work properly already.

but no sound is coming from the headphone port on the headphones. and the controller has built-in mic support! which I would like to use.. since the cable has the mic port on the same plug as the headset...

Hi, I see hm well then you would need to open up the computer to see if there are any cables that aren't plugged in correctly into the motherboard.

And you might also wanna see what happens in Device Manager when you plug the headphones in, might be that you find a yellow triangle there.

What is the headphone make and model, have you maybe searched on their website for a driver or software?

If you do not know why, I think you can do follow this. All of this diagostic process is quickly.
Step 1: Connect your Xbox to your Computer.
Step 2: Download and install a free drivers update software, you can find it on google or cnet download.
Step 3: Use this software scan your computer, it will remind you your drivers status. How many are missing, how many are outdated, how many are the latest verion.
Step 4: Try to check the missing drivers and outdated drivers, find the drivers related with the USB or Headset. And then update it.
Step 5: If you do not sure, you can update all the missing drivers or outdated drivers.

Maybe it can helps to solve your problem.
