I want to remove windows 7 and update xp to windows 8

You can't update XP to 10, only to Vista.
You would be better off dumping XP and updating 7 which is supported.

That would not be free unless he supplies a qualifying 7, 8 or 8.1 key.

Yes I want to update xp to 8 and not to 10

I pulled this off a win-8 upgrade note but if the system spec's are there a clean install of 8 should work if you out and out buy a oem/ system builders copy of 8 with a activation key

So then, buy Windows 8 and install it on the XP partition.

Better yet, buy a drive for 8. Unplug the 7 drive during the install.

But you will hate 8, so why bother ????

Sorry, you can't update XP to 8 either, only to Vista. You can clean install (format during install) anything your computer will support.

Agree with AddRam, skip 8/8.1 and go to 10.

I was going to until I remembered I already used the free win-8 pro upgrade key on my Acer's home premium install :mad2:
8 is way more stable than 10 is and still on the free upgrade to 10 list which I imagine will be extended past M$'s dead line

I just don`t understand any talk of any other OS when we all know Windows 7 is the best there is and will ever be.

Microsoft made a good OS with XP and made THE BEST with Win 7, now what are they supposed to do until the end of time. Try to make one better I guess. Folks are still trying to improve on wheel but can't do it. The first guy got it right.
