Hi...Been trying to reinstall Win7 (x64) on a new HDD after the original died. Kept getting same error "Windows Setup could not configure Windows on this computers hardware." Finally resorted to forcing finalization using Shift F10 >Msoobe etc. but then ran into Windows updating issues after doing so.

I'm stumped on what to do to rectify this. Called the manufacturer a week ago but they've yet to get back to me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for that.... I'm confused though!

On THAT page It recommends loading the RST driver before OS installation but then on the Intel page it states... "if your system has a supported AHCI controller then you do not need to load the Intel RST driver during the operating system." So I'm confused.

So, has Windows 7 installed successfully or not? Exactly what error do you get when updating?

Please perform the following:

It's installed but like I alluded to earlier I cannot receive updates & I've tried everything to remedy that but to no avail. Here is my original post with errors listed and CBS.zip Win7 update error

In the meantime, I figured I should probably focus on installing Win7 properly (without resorting to Msoobe)
I'll log onto my Win computer & download the tool you suggested.

Thank you, I appreciate the help!

There doesn't seem to be any issue with the licensing, but unfortunately our regular update guru's (Tom and Noel) only visit infrequently. However, I'll drop them an email and see if they can look at this for you.

Hold tight.

Thanks for the update... I'll wait a while longer then before resorting the ISO route.

Hi Roy, after running MS fixit, instantly received a 'windows update' notification saying I had updates. I was also able to start & run W Defender (unable to prior). So rebooted and ran another MGADiag.

If you still find errors, I can run the other two recommendations you provided, (didn't want to run anything else if I didn't have to).

Thanks for the help!

Hi Benteke,

The WAT errors are still there,
BUT,
Now that you have updates to download i suspect 1 of them will be the KB3112343, i asked you to run.
It will remove those 4 remaining lines.

Give it a couple of days, and it should be OK.

Yeah Roy, I figured that since the updates were showing up, I could just install the the KB3112343 fix that way. As for slmgr.vbs /ato, I wanted to ask you about that.... I know slmgr.vbs is Windows Software Licensing Management Tool and from what I've researched, /ato is to "Activate Windows license/product key against Microsoft's server." Is that correct? I have no problem doing this if it needs to be done, I just wanted to know WHY it needed to be done? Is it because I used Msoobe to force the Win7 installation past the "Windows Setup could not configure Windows on this computers hardware" error?

Thanks... and once again, I sincerely appreciate all of your help in resolving this matter.

Hi Benteke,

There are 2 processes involved,
Windows updates
And the Windows Activation Technologies,

The first has been cleared by the Fixit,
The second should be cleared the next time you update, the KB i was referring to in my previous post, will be included.
It will update MS's server records.
The 4 mismatches errors will be cleared, The DirectX and the Admin services will also be registered.

Okay, thanks Roy. I'm in the process of downloading all the "important" updates now.

So, do you think the initial hardware error received while installing Win7 OS was due to the IRST drivers? If I were to perform a reinstall in the future, would it be prudent to download those drivers beforehand (on a flash drive) & install them before the OS?

Thanks again!

Hi Benteke,
Thats a good idea, you do get the oppertunity to load drivers, during the install phase, if the install runs into trouble.

Your problem isnt that rare off hand i've seen it about once a month.

Okay great.... Could I use the same iata_enu.exe or would I need to DL the f6flpy-x64.zip?
Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST-RAID-Driver

PS: after reading Intel's instructions, it states ...The driver should be installed after the operating system has been installed.... So what do you think? Have you had previous success installing the drivers before the OS?

Hi Benteke,

You would have to use the .exe, (unzip will not be available at this stage).
Not sure about that, if the OS install states required drivers are missing, then install at that point,
Otherwise >>Immediately<< after the install is complete.

Note
I have not had to do it myself.
(My comps dont have it, still using an Abacus to count as well:confused: )

MXdiag,
Looks spot on :) shouldn't have any more probs.
All the errors have gone, DirectX/Admin are now registered.

Happy surfing

Hi Benteke,

Not sure about that, if the OS install states required drivers are missing, then install at that point..
Previous installs never "stated" that required drivers were missing but I DO remember there being an option to load drivers OR continue Win7 installation. I never selected the choice to load drivers & just let the OS install. But then I receive the error "Windows Setup could not configure Windows on this computers hardware." I was just thinking that maybe if I chose to install those Intel drivers before the Win7 installation, I may not run into that hardware error.

Note
I have not had to do it myself.

Lol... Haven't seen an abacus in quite a while :D
