Dragging them from your desktop to C is NOT backing them up, don`t worry, unless you deleted them you just dropped them someplace close to the C folder, just start opening them, you`ll find`em :)

This is why methodically copying and pasting then verifying is better. IMO

Dragging and dropping can result in accidents, like you had.

Yes I was just putting them there till I bought a pen drive to back them up
I have all ready searched all the normal places
And did a search for every jpeg and looked through the lot I can't find them anywhere
Its like they have just vanished
Could it be a hard drive problem or have I some how accidentally deleted them

Earlier you said "And did a search for every jpeg and looked through the lot I can't find them anywhere"
Now you say you searched for jpeg and got them.:) Whatever be happy you got those.
Safe Procedure to move:
Right click on the item and drag it to the location where you want it to be moved. Leave off the right button. You will get a menu like this:

View attachment 380086

Click on "Copy here" The item will be copied to that location.Check it has indeed been copied. Once you make sure it has been copied delete the original item.
Sorry I thought I did have them but it was some copies I still am missing about 90%

Have a look at this post http://www.sevenforums.com/performa...-files-while-copying-pasting.html#post1248514

Does that help?

EDIT:I deleted that post you had quoted in the previous post but you caught it before I deleted that.:D
Yes I tried all that thanks

I also tried a programme called undelete 360 but that didn't work 2 so it don't look like I deleted them

I am now trying something called disk doctors window a file recovery program

I've never had this problem before its like they just vanished, and the worst thing was I was getting all my pics in one place so I can back them up

Unbelievable

It's probably too late for this, but try going back to the desktop, clicking somewhere on it to give it focus, and then pressing CTRL-z, which is Undo. If done right away, whatever you did would be reversed. But if something else occupies the shell buffer, the record of the original action is lost.

Couple of other thoughts. View the Desktop in Explorer, list view, in case the icon is simply not displaying correctly. Or hit F5 when the Desktop has focus, to Refresh it.

Make sure the option to display Hidden folders is enabled in file/folder preferences.

Download the program Everything, which will quickly analyse the drive and let you sort and search using various parameters. If the folder was large, a size sort might reveal it.

Do not try a system restore. It will not affect user files, and you may mess something else up if the folder ended up in the wrong place.

It's probably not going to hurt anything.

Here's what I would do.

Open a command window ( Start Menu, type 'cmd', right click on CMD and select "open as administrator")

navigate to C:\ by typing in cd.. and hitting Enter, until you get there.

Now do a search for the folder. It would look like this:

Code:
dir foldername /A:D /S /P

Either use the exact folder name, or use what you know with a wildcard for the rest: folderna* If there are spaces you must use quotes.

Or you can do a similar thing for any one of the files, but delete the /A:D spec. This will search the whole C drive, so choose an uncommon file or folder name.
