Solved PC working fine in safe mode but crashes (BSOD) in normal mode

Hello,

From last 2 days I am facing constant crash in windows 7 normal mode (Lenovo notebook G580). but when I do boot the pc in safe mode with networking, crash never occurs. I am posting this thread in safe mode only from the same laptop. I have dmp file generated using verifier. and the same with provided exe here. I will try to upload both. I think some driver is causing the crash but can't find which one. please help to resolve this as I hope must not be the hard disk issue.

The thread title gives the exact impression. And it was a good step to enable verifier.

Now disable verifier.

Then ....

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.

1. Click on the Start button
2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
3. Select the “Startup” tab.
4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus (MSC) and the touchpad driver SynTPEnh.
5. Apply > OK
6. Accept then restart.

Then run the laptop normally. Let us see any further BSOD crash dump after doing it.

Thanks for quick reply. I am still facing the crash issue.

I disabled the verifier. also I already uninstalled splitcam driver from device manager and I don't think I need it in nearest future so not going to reinstall it. also had uninstalled realtek audio, video, display drivers as well as youcam driver. but those got automatically updated with alternatives by the system. also I have disabled many startup items, may be you can check in new dump file.

There is no new crash dump files.

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup tool before you upload another zip.

If still the crashes dont record any dump, take a camera snap of the BSOD screen and upload it here. Those onscreen codes will give us some info at least.

About the startup items, no other ones are needed to be there than MSC and SynTPEnh. Feel free to disable the rest.

Hi Arc, there is some good news and bad news.

bad news is that, after downloading the reg file and installing it, crashed happened but no new file created inside that folder.
good news is that, some how there were 2 files already there created yesterday, may be using verifier, I don't know.
2nd good news is I have managed to take the snap of the blue screen that I am uploading here too with those dump files. please have a look.

Hi Amit.

Though the dumps were already checked previously, but the camera snap gives us some information.

It is a stop 0cF4 BSOD, which may not always create dumps by its own nature. So the logic for not having new dumps are also there.

In most of the cases the 0xF4 BSODs are disk related issue. And yours a Seagate disk.

Test the disk using Seatools. Take both the Short Generic and Long Generic tests. Let us know the results.

Hi Arc,

It's now gone.. My laptop can't even boot now. it gives only 2 options
1. some boot up repair system
2. start windows normally

1st option ends up with failure
2nd crashes immediately after starting windows screen.

these all happened after I finished up seatools for windows and tried to go for seatools for DOS as suggested after each end of test results. I know the hard disk is completely gone and must replace it, though I am attaching the last snaps I took.

can you suggest how should I proceed with buying new hard drive may be some good brand or higher capacity or new technology. also please let me know what to do with my Windows OS? where can I find the legitimate copy as I have the valid OEM key.

one more thing, I tried to create bootup disk using of seatools for dos using windwos32diskImager. updated the boot orders in bios even selected manually the usb from boot order while booting up. but never it booted from USB.

using Windows 7 USB DVD download tool I tried to write seatools for dos ISO to usb. it said is not valid ISO.
same thing if I write the WindowsOS iso using same tool, it worked and pc booted with usb.

so why seatool for dos not booting up using usb? I am thinking to reinstall the windows and run seatool for dos.

Seatools for windows made one thing clear that the HDD is failing. You should replace it. Any 2.5" HDD will go good with it. Computers - Buy Computers Online at Best Prices in India (I buy all my stuff from that place)

OEM licenses are tagged with the motherboard, so changing the HDD will not affect anything.

You can download the Windows 7 ISO from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-download/windows7, by providing your key. But your next post gives a clear hint that you already have it.

About non-booting seatools for DOS: I hope you did the steps for win32diskimager properly in the option two of http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/313457-seatools-dos-windows-how-use.html. But still it will not boot, because your storage controller mode is AHCI.

DOS cannot read AHCI, so to boot from seatools for DOS, You have to follow the Caution for AHCI Storage Controller.

Seatools for DOS will be a good attempt if the HDD is still repairable. But if it also fails, then you will not have any other way but dumping the HDD and replacing it with another one (based on the error screenshots you have uploaded).

My mistake, the BIOS i already changed from AHCI to Compatible.. but i missed the special notes for writing the img file to USB. anyways i managed to run it. but i think i must replace it.

now the question is, the link to download windows is asking me the key. i have the key printed on my laptop, but it is not recognizing it. may be due to OEM copy. i got some how Windows 7 Professional, and i read somewhere that after using eicfg removal tool can be install it as Home Premium. i did used it and installed it in my laptop with same old hard disk just to try. but i don't find way to select the Windows proper version while installing it. and the key screen is not validating my current one. i am also trying to download windows from other sources. but what is the correct way in my case to follow.

also i am thinking to buy 1TB HDD for my laptop. i found 4 partition in my old HDD System, Windows (420GB), Lenovo(25GB), OEM (Reserved) (20GB). please let me know the partition to follow in my new hard disk. i am thinking to keep the OS/Software and Data partition separately. what other are mandatory?

It is my bad that I guided you to that link despite of noticing that your license is OEM. Yes, that link works for retail only.

Now you have two options left. First, try in file sharing sites (which will obviously be risky) and search for Windows 7 home premium. If there is any unaltered ISO available, download it. Activate it using your own key.

Secondly, I can make an ISO from my own DVD and send it to you. Though it will take a time as my internet speed is not fast.

About partitioning the HDD, when you are not using the factory created partitions then there is no need to have the factory like partitions. Keep like 150 GB for C and allot the rest for data.
Dont create more than 3 partitions, because a HDD can have 4 partitions in the normal course, and windows 7 creates an extra partition by itself during installation.

let me update you on current status, I bought the HSGT Hard disk with 7200 RPM - 1TB from local retailer in Singapore. and copied Windows ALL in one by paying $20 from another local retailer. it's really a pain created by Microsoft for OEM users for no reason. the legitimate Windows copy is the right of OEM users. I don't know why did anyone not sued MS yet. anyways I will trust your copy of windows and install it.

one thing I want to ask you, what if I keep Compatible mode instead of AHCI with fresh setup of windows? what difference it may cause?

AHCI is newer and faster. It is always better to use AHCI (system native AHCI, msahci as you have right now).

It is better to set the BIOS to AHCI before the installation. If yoy install windows on IDE mode and then set the BIOS to AHCI, windows will not boot at all.

just one help, what are the various way of backup and recovery. I am using windows backup and it creates the IC icon type image file with other files. I don't know what are they. and when the window backup don't work. what do you suggest other backup software is good in it.

one more thing, I tried to run create system repair disc, ending up in a common error says stop working.. I know I have installed box sync, but where can I confirm my error details? here in same forum create new thread or any other forum?
