Hardly over 10% after long, long time aggressive marketing, offering for free, with dozens of spam-like KB updates (invasions) injected to most pc's across the world, results certainly nothing to brag about.

iMO, if there was any real alternative to MS (mac, linux, google not yet there), 10 would have gone the way of windows phone > down the drain.

Moreover, if (extremely hypothetically) in July MS were to say "Ok the free time is up, in order to get ongoing support you now have the choice between paying full retail price for your Windows 10 installation or we will enable you to roll it back to Windows 7/8.1" is anyone seriously going to suggest that most Windows 10 users would stump up the cash rather than accept a rollback?

A lot of people actually like W10

And a lot do not. Both of those points are irrelevant. The point is the adoption rate of Win 10 would not have been as fast had it not been free and if Microsoft hadn't made it so easy and "convenient" to upgrade (and I use the word "upgrade" loosely).

No one has said that Win 10 has overtaken XP. What we are discussing is how unimportant that fact is since it is being compared to an OS that reached EOL almost two years ago and because of the tactics used to accelerate the adoption rate of Win 10, which has no bearing on how popular it is or isn't.

How many XP's were sold and how many W-10 were sold?
That would be a fact that means something.

People are naturally curious and this is the click click next generation

Sure it became forced, updates that you "have" to install and stuff like that, in the beginning yar they weren't that pushy with W10 but now it looks like you can't even turn a computer on without a popup saying you are getting an update whether you want to update or not.

Nothing except for kb3112343 has been classified as Important yet,
So "forced" is just a misunderstanding of the windows update settings options
If it were forced we would all be on win-10 and SevenForums would be closed

My Grandkids both went in and bought new laptops which had W10 pre-installed (not by choice I hasten to add). So that adds to the list of people taking up W10 huh? Well Microsoft, take two of your list 'cos W10 was put to sleep (painlessly) and W7 installed as soon as the kids got home!!
