I need advice about a reliable multiple video file converter

Hi all.

I on my computer I have many different video file formats , jpeg , mkv , avi etc.
I usually make a dvd from these to play on my portable dvd player .
But now I have a 64gb sd card which I would prefer to use but my player won't always accept these formats. Also sometimes the picture is there but the audio isn't supported.

I contacted the manufacturer and they told me codecs acceptable are:-

Video File Formats: MP4, VOB, AVI, MPEG 1, MPEG 2, MPEG 4, XVID
Audio File Formats: MP3, WMA
The video format of MP4 is,
The resolution: 480*320*(1.50:1)
Codec: MP4V
Frame Rate: 23.98fps
Bit Rate: 128kbps
If it is an audio, the Codec is AAC2.

Can anyone help?

Have you tried Movie Maker, it is a part of Windows Essentials?
Below are the file types that it can work with, and you can save projects as many formats including format for Youtube.

hello all , I have tried movie maker but I find it hard going to use.
is there a simpler converter out there that will convert a video file that will make it playable on a standard dvd player?
I have many file types to convert , mkv , flv , avi , mp4 & of course all the different audio codecs.

Freemake can convert most file types to DVD - mkv is sometimes difficult to convert to DVD, but I find Freemake works ok for this.

As with any install, always chose 'custom' if poss and watch out for any unwanted 'extras'.

Norton blocks entry to this website as Dangerous.

In playing video material you need to be aware of the difference between containers and codecs. Your playing device may have a compatible container but not necessarily codec.

Norton Safeweb shows the following:

I downloaded and ran the installer anyway. I've had an older version of Format Factory on my system for ages so I removed the old version and installed the new one. There are options to install additional software. Norton!

Scanned files after install on VirusTotal. There are only a few false positive detections and a whole bunch of unsigned files.

It does offer to install Picosmos Picture Tools and if you decline the offer you still get a link to the Picosmos website in FormatFactory's toolbar.

I'd say that FormatFactory is a decent enough program if you can clean install it.

Yes I did use Norton years ago. Now I use MSE.

I think that Firefox uses Google Safe Browsing URL checks.

I disable those checks and prefer to decide for myself what to download! However every file download is checked before downloading and once downloaded it's checked again by various scanners.

So what is the conclusion? So is it all a false alarm or should users be wary of the site.
I prefer false positives to false negatives provided I don't get too many of them.
