Trying to install SD card reader, keeps disappearing and reappearing

Hey so I'm Trying to install SD card reader, but the ( F: ) drive keeps disappearing and reappearing and the computer keeps making that sound when you insert something into it. I'm just trying to format the card. What's going on?

I finally got it to show up and remain however it says there is no disk in F:. Also it says 0 bytes in everything Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

I used to get a panel like that until I finally replaced the SD Reader with an SDHC Reader. The problem was the breakpoint of 4GB and larger cards, SD Readers can't work with them, only 2GB and smaller.
