Now that I upgraded to 7

hmmm . . . thats a pretty cool program

But, on another note I know that you can create a system recovery tools disc that allows you to access the recovery option from a boot. Has anyone done this yet ? used a boot disc to revive a system image ?

Actually, that is the entire point of Acronis. It let's you create the full system image (which you should be storing on external media such as a hard drive or DVD disks), and it has the option of specifically allowing you also to create a special boot disk that you would use to access and recover from the system image you have created.

I currently have two sets of Acronis full system backups for my rig, Prometheus. One is to restore it to Windows Vista (I created this image in January prioer to using Windows 7 BETA), and the second set is for my Windows 7 RC1 install that I created a few days ago in preparation for when I get my Windows 7 Ultimate retail today (I hope).

Some folk might also refer you to Norton Ghost, but I've found that Acronis is easier to use...

That should be possible with Windows built in System Image function.

Most of the experienced people on this Forum prefer to use a 3rd party program.

They are more flexible and more reliable.

I use mainly the Paragon Drive Backup - there are several available.

I am currently using Drive Backup 10 Server- not released yet.

There is free version available - very reliable:

Restore

As far as a system restore boot disk.. You can actually use the install disk, it has an option to launch sys restore/image "Repair my pc"

.. Never hurts to have good third party software though.

Thanks for the ideas guys I just finished re-formating my WD external drive and I am making a system image right now with the windows 7 program

So far its going good, besides using 28gb of external space, I think this will work great

EDIT: Ok went smooth took like 15 min and windows even promt for me to burn a recovery disk saying that this recovery disk was needed to restore the system from a boot stage.

EASY
