A Few Questions Before I Get a New Laptop (Mostly about moving things)

Hey guys, I'm about to purchase a new laptop, that will probably be 5x better than my current one.
I have a few questions first, though. I've decided to make this one thread instead of have it be lots of separate ones. Welp, here goes...

1. Can I move everything from this computer to the new one?
At this point, I don't care about the theme being moved, or about desktop shortcuts, or about how everything's arranged, I just want to make sure everything is over on the new one. I want to move the entire C: drive. Is that possible? How so? An external hard drive? Any info at all is appreciated.

2. Should I take any precautions before moving files?
Question is pretty self-explanatory here, anything I should do or prepare for before I move everything? (if moving everything is possible in the first place)

3. Any advice in general?
If you have any advice about new laptops in general, please let me know.

2. Make an image of the system to an external device - just in case

1. No you cannot transfer the old C: drive it has the OS for the old machine on it and would have a different activation code that the new drive will have and probably a different OS??

Laptops now days are mostly budget driven whether it's 5x better or worse depends on it spec's

I would suggest a i5 at the least and i7 processor quad core would be ideal with a minimum 2.50Ghz and 8gbs of ram.
Brands vary but MSI has some cool stuff

Also laptops are tough to upgrade so also get the latest graphic's now which would be NVidia 980M

That looks like a standard midrange laptop of today. You cannot go wrong with that.

Just be sure to get any extended warranty offered 2 year minimum.
When you get it be sure to monitor the temperatures
Laptops either cool properly or don't and are like little space heaters
Download Real Temp 3.70 | techPowerUp

Dell would not be in my buy list but if that's your budget it should work with the proper warranty...

I myself would not spend that much money for a laptop. But then I am not a gamer. Plus you are liable to get heat problems with that model.

First of all, I've bought tons of things from eBay and they arrived exactly how they were advertised.
My friends have used Rakuten, people on other forums I'm on have used it, most say it's good, so I'll take a risk. If everything goes okay, then good. If something goes wrong, then shame on me.

I have one final question: Could I buy an external hard drive, plug it in to my laptop, and copy everything in the C: drive to the hard drive? To clarify, could I select all of this: Screenshot by Lightshot , move it to a flash drive or external hard drive, plug the flash/hard drive into the new laptop, and then replace/merge those files with the files on the external hard drive?
