I'm running a Dell 8700 pc - win 7 64 bit

My DAW (Cakewalk Sonar Producer 8) program would not install because it would not accept the reg key. I tried doing a "clean install" by going into regedit and deleting all the folder associated with my DAW program.

After doing this, my PC will not boot. I get a blue screen with the MS/Win 7 logo at the bottom of the screen. Also the screen flickers/blinks every 6 seconds. See attached screenshot.

In addition, when I shut down, these weird white symbols appear in the middle of my screen. - see 2nd screenshot.

Before I made all the regedit mods, I did save a backup of the registry. It's a .reg file. THe problem is, I have no way of uploading this file into the PC since I can't get Win 7 running.

I really would like to avoid having to re-install Win 7 and all my programs. It was very difficult to find the correct drivers for my PC.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this broken PC?

If you can go to "Safe mode", by keep pressing the F8 while booting.
Run the registry.reg that you had a copy.

Never try to play around the registry, as it will take immediate effect.
Do one portion at a time.
Before editing &or remove, do select only that portion of the registry setting, and save it (export).
This is something similar to Windows explorer, "tree"; just like folder\folder\filename.
Just export only that portion.

I used to play around with the registry many years ago, but stop doing so.

how do you do that?

You have to be booted into Windows to do a repair install, as you're doing an in-place upgrade. It won't even work from safe mode.

If all else fails, do you have any system image backups you can restore from?
