Can I repair my W-7x64 bootup

Have W-7x64 SP-1. Experiencing intermittent start-up problems where it stalls during post at the same place. It will restart if I shut it down and try it a second time. Hesitate to use the Microsoft factory disk as it was not SP-1 and I am afraid of screwing it up more. Where do I go from here?

For whatever reason the forum SEARCH does not like me; I can find more searching the internet and often wind up back on this site with whatever the forum search cannot seem to find. That was what I was looking for.. But it couldn't find anything either.
I have long-since activated MACRUM REFLEX Recovery Boot Menu Option and suspect maybe it occasionally monkeys with the start=up.

If it stalls during post at the same place, it can be something related to hardware (memory, BIOS configuration)
