Regards, sorry for the inconvenience.

Today I found in the section of optional updates the following:

Intel - System - 6/28/2016 12:00:00 AM - 14.35.1.69

Download Size: 1.5 MB

You may have to restart the computer for this update to take effect.

Update Type: Optional

Intel System driver update released in June 2016

More information:

Help and Support:

The information tab takes me to a Microsoft help page but it does not mention the update.

And I can not find anything on the internet about it.

Anyone know what this update is going?

Get Intel drivers from your computer manufacturer's website as they will work. Rule of thumb is if it's working leave drivers alone unless you really need the latest features included in newer drivers.

Hijin25, I just got this update as well. And I'm still unsure of what to do with it.

I don't like the fact that it's labeled to be from June of this year, but there's no explanation as to what it might be for. Intel? OK, I have a new i7. System? What about my system?

I think I will be hiding this update until further investigation reveals why it appeared...

Exactly, that is what makes me more suspicious, that it is of long time and shows up until now. And that neither information exists anywhere clarifying what it is.

I have disabled the Intel video card from the BIOS, so I do not think that's it. And looking at Intel, I can not find any update with that version number for any of its components.

Yup, disabled onboard graphics here as well.

Nothing showing up in Device Manager, either. Thought it might be something for the Z170X chipset, but I have everything required from the mobo's website installed already.

I don't have onboard graphics and this update appeared yesterday morning. I can't find any info for it so I'm going to leave it alone for now.
I do have some Intel stuff for my motherboard.

Is this something for the Skylake's?

I only noticed this after installing a new i7 6700.

After installing this update, I am no longer able to downclock my CPU by reducing its multipliers. Both Intel XTU and my BIOS refuse to reduce the multipliers below 34x for one core, when previously I had it running at 28x.

Intel said they had no idea what this update was because it was released by Microsoft, not them. The microsoft rep that i spoke to claimed she could not find the update even when provided with the full name.

Do you have any idea how I can uninstall this update? It is not listed in the list of installed updates or programs.

I installed the update and I didn't notice any changes. I don't have Intel XTU installed.
I did come across a new BIOS version that will let me install the 6950X (10 core CPU). But that BIOS was installed some time ago.

I find this odd because my workstation computer which received the update is a Gigabyte F2A55M-HD2, which is based on AMD A55 with an A8-7600 Radeon R7 APU. I wouldn't swear to this, but I'm fairly sure there are NO Intel chips on this mobo, graphics related or otherwise. Our backup server which is also Gigabyte/AMD received the update as well.
Confusing to say the least. The link to Born's Tech and Windows World provided earlier in this thread seems dead on when he surmises that MS goofed on this one. I still can't find any more info about this though and I'm curious as to why these two AMD machines would get an Intel update from MS.

I also received that Intel Update notification from Microsoft this morning. I hid it as I could not find any info about it at all.

My computer has been working perfectly & I don't want to add any drivers that I am not absolutely sure about.

I don't want anything messing with my cpu.

It's date as such.

I'm not sure what it is intended to fix with my Intel CPU because I'm not having any problems.
