Hello all,

Am having a problem installing the Creative drivers and application for my X-Fi notebook card as it states the card isn't detected, even though windows has recognised it and installed it's native drivers and is working with no issues. It is showing up in device manager but still the software won't install.

Any advice would be appreciated...

Was the original OS Vista or XP. If Vista attempt to use the Vista driver. Also you might want to read the information from this Creative site. Hope this helps. :)

Try installing just the driver manually. This is for Vista but the same works in Windows 7,

Device Manager - Install Driver - Vista Forums

You will need to extract the downloaded beta exe first using something like Winrar. Once extracted then start following the steps in that link. When you get to the part about where the install file is point it to the following folder in the extracted folder,

USB_PCDRVBETA2_US_1_01_0097\Drivers\Driver\WinVista\Bin

If that works and the driver installs and the card works, you should be able to then run the setup.exe to install the rest of it.

Thanks mate...tried as instructed but Win 7 tells me the driver software is up to date already.

I then tried the 'have disk' method by manually selecting the hardware I wanted to install drivers for. It updated the drivers and asked me to restart the laptop but on restarting the the hardware has an error icon next to it in the device manager (sorry didn't make a note of what it said).

It seems as if the official drivers don't recognise the hardware is there, yet Windows does and installs the native drivers. Strange

kersey i own a dell studio 1555 and upgraded it to win7. had the same prob regarding sound blaster card. contacted my dell service provider they say the card is not supported by win 7 and installing creative drivers only ruins everything. they say the sound blaster card is as gud as add weight to the laptop. use the dell provided drivers to run sound on your laptop but without gud awesome sound. lets hope a solution is found soon.
