MS Access help pls - Files not opening

I have MS access file created using 2007 version
File name was Company.mdb
when i want to run after several months today i see that file has assigned EXE extension..
Company(.exe)
it does not open with access.
tried with Eset,Avg antivirus too,,,,not successful
all access and excel files in that pen drive have become exe

Dear expert friends pls give some comments to recover databases

Have you rename the exe to the actual file extension.

Also do a scan for virus & malware, etc; as it may be cause this to happen.


Normal latest version could open older version, but you need to check if there is a need to convert 2007 version to your current version.

This 2007 version is more than a decade so i should say it require conversion first.

This is due to too many features removed and replace, changes, etc.

I scanned with every anti virus programs,,,and tried with unhide commands like Attrib as well..

All excel enad Access files in my hard disk have become exe files,,but seems these are fake exe,,,

Eg.Inventory.accdb shows as inventory.exe

Salary.xlsx shown as salary.exe

DasunDe. You could try running Repair & Compact your Access database. The following Microsoft website tells you how to do that.

Help prevent and correct database file problems by using Compact and Repair - Access

If that does not help, feel free to come back again.

I boot with a Linux OS and browsed Pen again
then also shown as ,EXE
