Is Windows XP now considered rare?

Is Windows XP now considered "rare" even though support for it stopped two years ago? Or is it still relatively common? To me, it seems to be getting rarer.

As of last month (Nov 2016) Windows XP still has more than 8% of the market share. It's still the third most popular operating system which means millions of computers are still using it. (Maybe tens of millions.)

Microsoft offered businesses the opportunity to pay for extended support into 2017. (Official support ended in April 2014.)

And who knows how many computers are still running XP but aren't connected to the internet? I guess it's safe to say that XP is being phased out, but it's still a pretty popular operating system.

So almost 1 out of 12 computers are still running Windows XP. That's still kind of rare.

Another reason for the lingering on of XP is that it's fairly easy to pirate and so is in use a lot in China which slews some figures, (some comparisons try to remove Chinese data for this very reason) It's also still widely used in point of sale systems Tills, ATM machines Etc but these will never show in the comparisons as they are closed systems - Some point of sale systems are still using Windows 9.x systems

I believe you can do a google search around for a program to disable those prompts or do a manual registry edit to remove the prompts.. and various other methods of getting rid of it..
one program allows you to get rid of the prompt for good. and be able to re-enable if you ever wanted to.

I still have a fully functional Win XP box that I use for old games that do not port over to Win 7.

It will never get counted because I don't allow it on the Internet,. How do I get it counted?

Maybe Windows XP is back dated for most of the Windows 7 or 8 users. But you won't believe my uncle still using Windows XP. I tried several time to install Windows 7 in his PC but he is happy with XP.

I just reinstalled windows xp on a friends all 2001 Dell something or whatever. It had a XP recovery drive, used that to reinstall XP. The only reason for the reinstall was because of the other fifty veracious. . .

Not at all. It's still one of the most used operating systems here in my country. My old Pentium computer is failing now but I still use that operating system once I find a hard disk to install windows XP on it. Not really, it's still working well. I think this will still be used as Firefox announces that they will still support in until September.

As of this time, Windows xp is still the third most used OS in the world. I think it's not still appropriate to brand Windows xp as a rare OS at all.

There's no point in upgrading to Windows 7 if your computer is not up for it. 1GB of RAM isn't enough even for the minimum for the 32-bit version of Windows 7. 2GB will start writing to page file when gaming or when you have multiple tabs on in a browser.

Even 4GB isn't somewhat good for today's standards, I know because my computer previously came with 4GB ram but even lighter games had a huge impact.
