Hi,
I'm on W7 64 bit.
My xbox 360 doesnt' register as a media extender.
When I go into network and sharing and do a network mapping I can see my XBOX 360. But I can't access it and it never popup as a Media extender.
When I try to reach my computer via a pc to xbox 360 on my 360 it can't find my computer.
I've try to disable firewall and antivirus (avast) but still no luck.
Trying to force the discover of media extender via Mediaplayer doesn't work either.
Has someone get this issue ?
Thx in advance

PS: Sorry for my bad english, it's not my native tongue.

Hi,

I have the same problem with my Xbox 360.
The Windows Media Center menu doesn't detect my PC although my firewall is off.
The 360 appears into network and sharing when I do a network mapping.

Is there anything else to do ?

I think that maybe there is an incompatibility issue with 64 bit version because it worked very well on Win 7 32bit RC.

That's what I used to think, 64 bit could be the problem.
I m too lazy to make a clean 32 bit install

But, I don't understand why it worked one time.
During the first install of the 360, Media Center found the xbox. And never works after.

Im running Win7 and my xbox works as a media extender fine, to the best of my knowledge I haven't made any alterations/modifications to my '7' install, this may be a foolish question but have you 'the guys having issues with 64bit 7', gone through the whole set up of media centre on both the PC and xbox?

No. I use wifi between xbox and modem-router, an ethernet cable between modem-router and PC.

When I do a network mapping, all devices appear but there is an interrupt green line between the xbox and the router (instead of continuous line).
In properties, access to xbox is authorized.

Working fine here on Win7x64, try going into MC setup on the xbox and uninstall it from there then go into the pc and network&sharing center\change advanced sharing settings and remove the xbox from the list. Turn the xbox back on and it should reappear in the list with default settings. Now go into media player and 'allow remote control' - back in the xbox ui setup mc extender and you should be good to go. I've had the problem you are faced with plenty of times due to reformatting etc and it is always remnant of previous setup that causes the issue. Hope this helps

YEEAAHHH !! IT WORKS !!! :p:p
Thanks very much settingsun !!

I go in the MC setup menu on the xbox and at the end of the setup process, it give me the 8 numbers !!!
Then, I go on the PC, in the Media Center and put the code and... IT WORKS !!

If i do a network mapping, the interrupt line is still here but i think it represents the wifi connection.

Thousand of thanks !!! ;)

Have you got the 8 numbers on your Xbox ?
And set them on the Media Center to your PC ?

Hi I have kinda another problem with the xbox. I got it connected directly to the pc on Connection 1. On connection 2 is the gateway. in the network sharing center the xbox on connection 1 is mark3ed as "unidentified network". When I go to advanced sharing center, and check the full map of my connection 1 it shows me 1 hub, my pc and the xbox!! But, when I move over the xbox with the pointer it says : IPv4 address: 0.0.0.0 and a MAC address which seems to be configured. Well....I'm not even able to establich any connection from my xbox to the pc. It simply says that its not connected to a pc or hasn't got a IP address from the pc.

I hope that some of you guyws can help me out with this mess, I googled around the web and found no concrete solution to this problem.

btw, I'm using nforce controllers, and Win7 64bit.

Plz help ^^

Your PC does not by default give out ip addresses or DNS info...bridging your adpators will create a new network adaptor that will control both as if they were one:

If you show two adaptors (the ones that you have each device attached to) in Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections you may be abe to 'bridge' them by highlighing both (ctl + click) and then right clicking on one and selecting 'Bridge connections' - there are many reasons that this may fail also depending on each adaptor...reboot after and disconnect/turn off your xbox first, make sure you can still get online and then turn on your xbox.

I suggest a router (or a long cable).

Hi Swanson!
Thx for your reply. You were right, I cannot bridge those two connections. It says:

"To create a network bridge you need at least two LAN or two High-speed Internet Connections that are not used by Internet Connection Sharing."

So, do I have to turn ICS off for both Connections? Cause some guys told me that it has to be on to get my connection to my xbox working.

typically this would mean that you have each adaptor already connected to the same router, gateway.

:Dsounds ridiculous to do such a thing. Only Local area Connection 1 is connected to the router...the other one isn't connected at all ^^

Hadn't these problems with xp :zip:
But I think it's more nvidia that messes around...or I'm really a n00b while doing this, however, its a nogo :(

You would need to have them both connected, one to the router/gateway and one to another router, PC or device, etc. (and each device turned on also) and then you can bridge them...

You are asking questions which is a very good start.

hm you are definetly right. So I first have to get my pc to recongnize my xbox and to send an IP to it. After that I should face the problem with getting the xbox connected to the web. I'll google around and try solving my first step then :)
