Everyone is saying wait for vega

I'm just throwing this out there... Casting bread upon the waters as it were. I've been watching dozens (and dozens... and probably dozens) of video reviews and reading scores of product reviews about graphics cards and GPUs and I have to say that the majority of what I've seen (and read) isn't really all that impressive. I mean they found the sweet spot in the market (roughly $300 US) which I thought was rather high, myself but it sure is hard to find anything half decent for $300.00 Canadian. The card that comes the closest to what I've envisioned putting in my PC is the XFX GTR 480 XXX double D version. (I know... sounds like a porn movie title) BUT... even this card is slightly over my budget, having doled out the coin for an X99-E WS USB 3.1 mobo and 128 GB of Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM and the silly device that makes your RAM fans change colour. But I digress. I noticed that a lot of people are saying to wait for VEGA and I'm wondering if VEGA is really going to be what it's all cracked up to be. Meanwhile the wife is ready for an upgrade and my ASUS 7850 CU II may just have to find a new home despite the fact that it works wonderfully. My youngest daughter is having GPU issues with some old power guzzling 400 series huge blower style monstrosity, which means that a transfer from mom to daughter to daughter to youngest daughter is due... Everybody gets a "new" GPU as a matter of hand me down consequences. I'm trying to hang tough for another month because I'm told VEGA comes out in June. What say ye? Is it well worth the wait or should I just get graphics card now. If you think VEGA is worth waiting for please give your reasons. I'm all eyes. . . And thanks in advance.

No one really has a concrete reason on why should people switch to Vega.

It's true that Ryzen has managed to beat Intel with price per performance, but we all need to remember that these new products will have more or less problems at launch.

No one knows how consistent a company will give their new products a "smooth" launch. I mean, lesser problems with their products.

Ryzen did manage to beat Intel on the price per performance with respect to clock speeds but only in a narrow margin and not without considerable sacrifice IMHO. When one scrutinizes the bench tests and the stats (not just some, but all) it becomes clear that they cut a considerable amount of corners to do this. Myself, I like my bandwidth and my options. Give me 40 express lanes and I'll turn this rig around. I managed to reach 4.8 Ghz on this air-cooled beast (not that I need it) but I'm quite happy with the stock 3.6 Ghz. I decided to run on a mild auto o.c. after hitting a B.S.O.D. on 4.9. So it really depends what one is into and I'd say that Ryzen still has a long way to go. Still, I salute AMD for making an honest effort. It's about time!

Like most folks I enjoy crisp and clean graphics and fast response times but I'm not a hard core gamer so the uber over clocking isn't a major deal as long as the card can deliver... Which sort of brings us to 4K resolutions and practical video rendering options. Alas, I am on a budget so I have to be realistic. Some might say after the work station board I bought and the Corsair junk I purchased that would be a contradiction in terms :::meh::: At least it's paid for. Come to think of it, I still have olde faithful - my original ATI 5450 graphics card If the 5 year old's beast craters. She might not have the resolutions she currently enjoys but she probably won't even notice anyway. BUT the wife is due for an upgrade and she loves her gaming. The card I'm currently using on the X99 is an older style ASUS from my fan boy daze but it sat in the shrink wrap for more than 3 years before I bothered to use it so it's practically brand new. Tom Petty had it right... Waiting is the hardest part.

Everyone is everyone who is saying wait for VEGA.

I realize it's an over-generalization but it's also a figure of speech. My CPU doesn't afford me the luxury of running graphics but from what I've seen with Intel lately this isn't anything to feel bad about. I'm sure finding it hard to get the scoop on VEGA though and the release for it is supposed to be this June.

Well, I'm not everyone, but Vega certainly looks appealing from a technical standpoint. If I were in the market for a card and had the money to burn for early-adopter pricing (which is always a ripoff), I might buy one. If I were truly going to go Vega, though, I would wait another year for the prices to go down and the drivers to stabilize.

Now, the enthusiasts with money to burn and who don't care about being ripped off by introductory prices will tell you to buy it the first day that it comes out. They're everyone.

BUT (You know there's always a "but") There is also the promotional part of it where they sell newly introduced products at rock bottom prices that you don't see again for 3 or 4 years. The merchandisers have the game all wrapped up. You don't play unless you pay. But .. That aside, what can you tell me about Vega? I just found this:
