Solved Windows.old continuously creates files after each min.

Hi,

As the titles states that i have the problem with windows.old.It continuously eats my storage.It creates its self after each min with 2.5 GB of file.I ran disk cleanup tool and it deleted this file but after each min, its again there.So its really irritating.

Please need help.

Hi firzon, I have used this tutorial, I only needed to use option one, and the file was deleted permanently.

The problem is not deleting.The problem is stopping this file from rapid creation of un necessary files.Every each min a new file comes after deletion.Thats the problem.Its something an error or bug.

Hi firzon, Have you opened the file to see what programs are inside it, and see if you can delete them that

way.

its rly disturbing me.I have no idea how to check what programs it has.I rly want to stop this.Just imagine every min 2.5 gb goes.I m rly fed up with this.everytime i have to delete it.Or else i have to do fresh win 10.currently i have win 7

Hi firzon, From Brink's tutorial on my first answer, have you tried Option Two, to paste the command given

by Brink in the tutorial in command prompt, but right click run as administrator.

Ok firzon mate some system psecs would help here so please follow this

Now before we can help we do need to know what is in your machine so please do this System Info - See Your System Specs - Windows 7 Help Forums
or either enter the specs of your system in your forum profile the specs will appear when we click on that little box bottom left of the post screen it is for me the preferable option as it is easy. As you may appreciate it is very hard when you don’t know what one is working with for example a diesel or petrol engine.

Now the copy of your Windows just where did you get it - did you buy a now OEM ir did it come with the machine?? I doubt it was the latter and am wondering if you didn't put that copy of Windows who did??

Windows.Old is created when you do a upgrade installation. Did you start an upgrade to Win 10?

Anyway now its fixed.It was a huge disturbance.

Hmm that's is really odd Mega I have an old folder with nothing in it on a clean install from a new OEM onto a cleaned drive??

Makes no odds as there is nothing in it maybe a chip on the drive didn't get cleaned properly??

If you boot from a win 7 installation disk and do a clean install on a drive without deleting or formatting the partition it will also create a Windows.old with all folders from the previous installation.

Hmm well I di that mate I just cleaned the drive and created an active partition - no worry really as there is nothing in there anyway.
