What a VICTORY for decent food lovers everwhere -- Maybe the recession isn't all bad after all. -
Certainly does generate some strange "side effects".

I for one won't miss you Mcdonald's -- Bye Bye and please don't EVER come back again.

I'm proud to say that I live near a town called Clitheroe (Lancashire UK) which refused to have a McDonalds so they had to build it on the bypass road and Clitheroe Council made them lower their "m" so it wouldn't despoil the scenery.
Apparently this is the only small "m" in the country!
I read about Big Macs etc in American fiction and magazines when I was a boy and recall the first one opening in central London. I made quite a journey across London (for a 12 year old) and was bitterly disappointed. It's like eating warm greasy carpet.
You're right though Airbot. Our children seem to like them over here. It's a phase.

Well, I fondly remember (years ago) going to MickyD's and not being able to eat $5 worth of food - when the burgers were a quarter and the fires were a dime, as I recall.

I still like a Big Mac on occasion, and their fries are great, IMHO.

I prefer Burger King myself. What are Wendy's like? I don't think we have them (yet)
Also heard that KFC are losing The Colonel as they want to attract younger people. Can just imagine the buzz group that decided the old chaps visage was putting kids off going in there:sarc:

I'll agree the fries are just about the best you can get from a fast food outlet, but the rest of the food is absolute rubbish.

On a somewhat related note I do know that at one time that the only flavour of walkers crisps that were not suitable for vegetarians was Cheese & Onion :huh:

At the bottom, it says one place is deep frying the donut first…..

Maybe they will get those over the pond some day.... I hesitate to mention that the hit of the Texas State Fair this year was deep fried butter - a real taste treat!
