Solved Problem to restore 128 GB image on 256 GB ssd in win 7

I have a Lenovo laptop with a 128GB SSD disk. I ran out of memory so I bought a SAMsum 850 EVO 256 GB SSD. I used Acronis True Image to create an image and installed it on the new SSD. This resulted in an identical image but the extra size of the new SSD became unallocated space as shown in IMG_24092017_185227_0.png. How can I allocate this disk space of approx 113 GB to my system drive (C: in attachement)?

How do you want to configure the partitions?

1) I suggest you make the Lenovo recovery image first, in case you want to restore to factory condition at some time in the future.

2) You could then delete Q and the 8gb partition. Then extend your windows partition.

How do you want to configure the partitions?

The laptop had all partitions preinstalled including recovery partition. So I have no further requirements on the partioning except I want to increase the c: system drive by making use of the 113,64 GB unallocated disk space. I think safest way forward is not to change the partitioning, if possible.

The only way to extend C: is into contiguous free space.

The only way to do that is to delete ( or move ) the Lenovo Recovery partition.

You could move the Lenovo partition with a 3rd party partition manager, such as
the free ( standard) Aomei.
Free Partition Manager Software - AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard

However, that may affect the lenovo okr access to the recov partition.

Some imaging programs will allow you to change partition sizes during image restore - but that might also affect okr access to recovery partition.

That is why you are better making the Lenovo Recovery disks first. Just in case you want to use to reset to factory condition, e.g. if you give/sell the machine to someone else.

The free minitool does not allow partition recovery, nor does it make boot media.

Aomei free partition assistant is better.

I used Acronis true image 2009 to create the image. Is there something I can do differently when creating the image before moving to the new. I have the initial source disk with recovery partition on.

Hi,
As far as I know minitool will rewrite and or move any existing partitions in the way of expanding C for the unallocated space to be applied.

It might be better to do this operation booting to minitool cd/ flash media instead of inside windows though so security... does not disrupt the operation

If onekey is working, start it up and select "Recover Drive space".

It onekey is not working, then you can use Aomei. In Aomei main window Simply rt click the Lenovo partion and select delete. Then APPLY.

Then rt click C and select Resize, drag it all the way to the right. Then APPLY.

Bootable media should not be needed for the above.

However, in case you want it in the future, you can borrow my boot media - it has explorer, networking, browser, audio, disk management, windows recovery options etc. It also includes Aomei partition assistant and Aomei Backupper.

Karenetson, since you want to make use of the unallocated 113 GB space to increase C partition, you can directly merge it to C using aomei partition assistant. Disk Management can't help you extend C with the unallocated space since the unallocated space is not very after C here. And, just as SIW2 said, by adding unallocated to C, your disk partitions layout will changed, and OKR will not recognize the recovery partition. Thus, why not just delete it and the 8 GB partition and merge them to C? Anyhow, you still have the old 128 GB disk as a backup.
PS: You can using Lenovo OneKey Recovery to create a recovery partition again after extending C if you are still worry about your system.

I like Partition Wizard as well and it can do the required operations. Unfortunately your video link is in a non English language and my version 9.1 no longer supports building a bootable iso. It used to support the iso build and I have it saved. The software appears to be Canadian while AOMEI is Chinese.

The lowest cost paid version is quite reasonably priced but it is for one PC. If I thought the bootable CD was able to be used on other PCs then I'd pay the money. Does anyone know if the paid bootable CD is usable on multiple PCs?.
