Am getting a BSOD every time I boot up from hibernation - third time in a row thus far. Completely fresh install of Windows 7 from OEM disc on a brand new hard drive, thus far I have only installed the following updates (in ascending chronological order):
  • Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.320
  • Service Pack 1
  • IE 11 for x64 based systems
  • KB2999226
  • .NET 4.5.2
I installed all drivers that came on the DVD shipped with my PC as well - touchpad driver, network drivers, and the like.

SFC /scannow doesn't throw up any averse indications. (Yet.)

Have attached the log file in ZIP format below.

Hi user6m7,

Update the chipset drivers from Dell site directly.
Support for Inspiron 15R SE 7520 | Drivers & downloads | Dell US

Hi axe0, thanks for replying. Sorry, forgot to mention that I updated all drivers soon afterwards through the same page. Actually, not quite, because I entered my service tag and the page gave me a customised list on that basis.

It's gotten worse now, I just got the same BSOD on trying to wake the computer from sleep (it was in sleep mode for about an hour). Have attached another dump log zip.

Was your previous installation completely updated?

It wasn't, I avoided a number of Windows updates that were described as dodgy elsewhere on the web. Drivers were all fully updated too, but no problems. But that was on the factory installed HDD, which I've had to replace as it was beginning to fail.

Thanks for your reply. No effect, still got yet another blue screen after trying to wake it from extended sleep. This happened a few hours after I installed all Windows updates available. Latest logs attached for your perusal.

sfc /scannow reports no integrity violations still.

8 new updates available, but to be honest I'm wary about installing them so soon, as I had a BadPatch error with the same PC (crypt32.dll mysteriously not working, unable to boot even in Safe Mode, or to use a restore point) a year ago - although again, different HDD.

I would recommend to backup your system using Acronis, Paragon, EaseUs or Macrium, for such situations.
I personally use Macrium because of its simplicity and stability.

Might it be a problem with my sound driver? I just realised that I have a problem with audio distortion, similar to:

Except it isn't intermittent for me. The driver in question is fully up to date as far as I know.

In Windows Update history, is there an update for the chipset drivers?

IaStorA.sys = Intel Rapid Storage

It turns out that Intel Rapid Storage (IaStorA.sys) was the culprit. I downloaded the latest version direct from the Intel website (SetupRST.exe) and it solved my problem instantly.

It's a part of your chipset drivers, generally I don't recommend to use drivers that are not from the laptop / motherboard manufacturer as it usually causes problems.

The Intel Rapid Storage driver was on the DVD that came with my computer actually. Thanks for your help anyway.
